SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS NATIONWIDE HEALTH CARE LAW SUBSIDIES (Scalia: Obamacare is now SCOTUScare)
Associated Press ^ | 6/25/2015 | Mark Sherman

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the nationwide tax subsidies under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, in a ruling that preserves health insurance for millions of Americans.

The justices said in a 6-3 ruling that the subsidies that 8.7 million people currently receive to make insurance affordable do not depend on where they live, under the 2010 health care law.

<

The outcome is the second major victory for Obama in politically charged Supreme Court tests of his most significant domestic achievement. It came the same day the court gave the administration an unexpected victory by preserving a key tool the administration uses to fight housing bias.

Chief Justice John Roberts again voted with his liberal colleagues in support of the law. Roberts also was the key vote to uphold the law in 2012. Justice Anthony Kennedy, a dissenter in 2012, was part of the majority on Thursday.

"Congress passed the Affordable Care Act to improve health insurance markets, not to destroy them," Roberts wrote in the majority opinion.

In a dissent he summarized from the bench, Justice Antonin Scalia said, "We should start calling this law SCOTUScare." Using the acronym for the Supreme Court, Scalia said his colleagues have twice stepped in to save the law from what Scalia considered worthy challenges.

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas joined the dissent, as they did in 2012.

Mass non-compliance.

The District of Columbia has only the powers we de facto cede to them. Do not comply.

Yes, I’m looking to get a Gadsden Flag to fly with my Texas Flag. That’s all that will wave.

[[I expect that in my lifetime I will now see open revolt against a tyrannical government.]]

Don’t hold your breath- one nation after another simply complied as their dictators pounded them into submission- take al ook around you- you will find very LITTLE I nthe way of national pride and personal pride any logner- because we’cve become the ‘gimmedat’ society where we are willing to give up our rights for ‘free stuff’ from the gubmint- That is why we got two years of the most inept unqualified president ever

If words have no meanings before the Supreme Court, there is no longer rule of law.

No truer words. We live in a dictatorship, ruled through an oligarchy.

[[We damn well better nominate Ted Cruz.]]

The Way God is judging this country- I don’t see Him getting elected- I see either Jed or Hillary- at which point this country will be done for-

It’s good to have optimism, however, it certainly appears God is judging this nation for becoming so wicked and for turning our backs on Him AFTER He blessed us so tremendously- We’ve kicked Him out of government, schools, the public realm etc- and now we’re reaping what we’ve sown I’m afraid- The writing seems to be on the wall- We’re seeing one shocking unbelievable defeat to our values, laws, rights after another- and we sit around waiting for the supreme court to uphold our rights and they are NOT- it’s simply stunning!

Are you kidding? Romney is the father of this garbage. We lost any chance forever when the GOPe nominated him. He had no intention of going after Obama. I know because the Romney I saw when he wanted to win (against moderate/conservative Gingrich), was way different from the Romney who imagined running against the lib marxist Obama. Obama is his buddy. Romney only goes after conservatives.

The health insurance industry must be breaking out the (taxpayer funded) champagne right about now. I bet it’s the good stuff.

Drink up because by the end of the next Presidency the full-court press will be on for single payer.

Congressional repeal of this law is all that is left.

Roberts will just rule that unconstitutional and put it back in place.

Eventually, and perhaps sooner than later, everything the far left wants will be deemed a "civil right". And everything the far left opposes will be a "hate crime".

Which in a nutshell is why the idea of an Article V Convention scares the crap out of me.

I refuse to fly or display the American Flag anymore. It now represents a Marxist nation.

My thoughts ever since a majority of voters elected a hardened, serious, socialist the first time. Largely because they are ignorant, but largely because middle America (including nominal conservatives) LIKE the tenants of socialism and statism.

The U.S. flag no longer represents liberty, rule of law, property rights, and a background of nominal plus actual Christian virtue. It has been overcome by a voting public thoroughly entrenched in secular Progressive socialist statism.

With the election of Obama, we passed the tipping point. We will not swing in the direction of Constitutional liberty or Christian faith without major, violent upheaval.

The U.S. flag really is dead, it seems to me, as a symbol of liberty and the supremacy of the political individual. In my mind, if we salute the flag we salute those of our neighbors who vote to seize liberty and property from their neighbors.

Bad temporal times are coming. If you don't know Jesus Christ as your savior, now would be a good time to read the four gospels, for yourself, and examine just what it is he asks of you. Don't make bad temporal times extend into bad eternal times. Please read the Bible for yourself.

How would a convention be any more dangerous than what we have now? They obviously don't need amendments to destroy the country...

Especially the clintons. But if that georgia hippy carter hadn’t of pardoned the draft dodgers, clinton never could have held office. He would have enjoyed room and board at a military prison.

Actually, I was. Last week Obama was bashing the Supreme Court for taking up the law and I assumed he already knew the outcome and he lost. I just assumed he wanted to get his message out before the ruling went public. The SC vote had already happened and the opinion written a while ago. I still think he knew the verdict; but I think his rant last week was to make his low information base think he either had something to do with the outcome or he wanted to spike the ball a little for his base. It probably is a little of both....
