McKinney Officer Resigns Amid Pool Party Investigation
NBC DFW ^ | Jun 9, 2015 | Frank Heinz

Posted on 06/09/2015 9:47:30 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Officer's resignation effectively ends internal investigation by McKinney police

"As the chief of police, I want to say to our community that the actions of Casebolt, as seen on the video, of the disturbance at the community pool, are indefensible," said Chief Greg Conley, during a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "Our policies, our training, our practice, do not support these actions. He came into the call out of control, and as the video shows, was out of control during the incident."

As Casebolt and two officers first responded to the scene, teens were said to be running from the area as officers tried to gain control of the situation

"Our citizens called us to a fight in progress and a general disturbance at the community pool. We responded. I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community, showed disrespect to the security person on scene and to the officers who responded," Conley said. "However, we as a department are held to a high standard ... as we do our jobs. I support the fine men and women of the McKinney Police Department, who day in and day out, do an outstanding job on behalf of all of our citizens."

Police said nine additional officers were called to the scene and the disruption was eventually brought under control.

"I have 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training. They did an excellent job," Conley said. Video showing the incident sparked national scrutiny of the officer's actions. Meanwhile, Casebolt was placed on administrative leave while his actions were investigated.

Casebolt resigned Tuesday through his attorney and did not issue an apology, police said Tuesday.

The teen in the bikini taken to the ground by Casebolt was eventually released without being cited.

"I was wondering what was going through his head. Why would he even come to the scene and act in the manner in which he acted?" said Dana Bakari, whose daughter, Jahda, was at the party on Friday night.

The family lives in the Craig Ranch North neighborhood.

Casebolt's resignation effectively ends the investigation by the McKinney Police Department's Internal Affairs Division.

"We may never know, but at the same time, too, I am relieved that he's no longer at the police force here in McKinney," Dana Bakari said.

On Monday night, the Craig Ranch North Homeowners' Association sent an email to its members, saying, in part, "This is a peaceful, increasingly-diverse neighborhood that is growing and thriving because of our difference in background, race, reasons for moving here, and in many other ways."

"I just hope it doesn't shed a negative light here," Dana Bakari said.

Cornell William Brooks, president and CEO of the NAACP, released a statement Tuesday following Casebolt's resignation.

"To protect any community, law enforcement officials must respect that community. The resignation of Cpl. Eric Casebolt is a good first step, but hardly the last," Brooks said.

Brooks went on to say the NAACP, "will continue working with community members and law enforcement to ensure that no one, especially the young people of McKinney, are ever again the victims of excessive force, racial profiling and police brutality."

One person was arrested for evading arrest/detention and interference with public duties. Police said Tuesday that those charges were dropped.

McKinney police said they have reached out to the teens involved and asked if they wanted to press charges. So far only one person has responded.

NBC 5's Amanda Guerra, Ray Villeda, Don Peritz, Kevin Young and Brian Roth contributed to this report.

“I suspect the HOA will bring civil damages against the girl and her mother for running a commercial enterprise (promotion of future entrance charged events) on private property without HOA authorization. Also the mother/daughter’s promotion of “Make it Clap”, with that phrase being a vulgar sexual connotation, denotes a certain mindset in tune with urban black culture. Their ‘crew’(“Dime Piece Models”) includes females as young as 13. Classy bunch.....”

That could be. I was only speaking about the part of the incident where the cops were involved.
I haven;t heard anything about the the DJ or the woman who hosted the party or that blonde woman.

I haven’t seen anymore than real basic info on any of that so I don’t know if that’s been resolved or dropped or if there maybe lawsuits and/or charges filed later.

“The video evidence would disagree with the chief and media narrative.”

Well that’s your opinion and you’re certainly entitled to it.

There’s a little bit of one cop right at the beginning. When the kids hand him a flashlight somebody dropped.

Or a wannabe somebody. Twas Overseer Eric hisself who lost his flashlight when he tripped on arrival. That may have made him testy.

Its a fact, look at the video. He’s talking to unresponiveblaw breakers who just beat a private security guy up.
When he puts the girl down you see two of Obama’s sons coming around to jump the cop until he changes their minds by taking out his weapon.
Plain as day in the video.

Sorry but the McKinney chief of police disagrees with you.

Yeah that probably was Casebolts flashlight. He dropped it when he tripped.
The cop those kids gave the light back to, he seemed calm and on top of it.

There was a mob who beat up a guy and who were jumping fences and breaking things. The kids did not listen or respect police and were Imo testing their own mortality once again.

We have too much White Mans burden and not enough respect or sense of shame inthe black community.

Yeah the “look squirrel!” crowd would point at the cop and not at what brought the cops to the “party”! We have a lawlessness issue in a good portion of the American populace but somehow it’s all the cops’ fault!

“I’m sure that wasn’t political AT ALL!”

I’m not much of a conspiracy theory enthusiast so Im going to go ahead and go with what the chief said.
As for what initially brought the cops out. I have no idea what really happened. If there’s something there that merits lawsuits or charges being filed then I’m sure it’ll be resolved.
I know at this point no charges have been filed and Casebolt resigned.
Looks like case closed.

Blacks involved in lawlessness again in a time of racial sensitivity, so of course case closed indeed.

“I think more of the focus should be on the 11 cops who got it right.”

Andy why would you say that? Casebolt was out of control, the other officers were doing things the way they were trained. They were doing what was expected of them. To try and sublimate the erratic actions of Casebolt by praising the other officers would serve only to allow Casebolt’s actions to be noticed less. I just imagine the Chief told Casebolt “you have two choices, resignation or prosecution.” For once, a PD managed to do the right thing when confronted with a situation where an offending officer was clearly out of line. Now they don’t have to have an “investigation” to try and cover up criminal behavior and drag it out so long that the public “forgets” about it.

The video evidence would disagree with the chief and media narrative.

Discernment is disappearing from (or is being “educated” out of) our population. The shells that are left are gullible serfs who will believe and follow whatever they are told by the media.

I think you took my meaning the wrong way.
I agree Casebolt needed to be removed.
After he resigned there should have been a bit more spotlight put on the cops who did act professionally.
The article says there will be more community outreach from the PD. Good idea. So really underline that there was one bad cop, he’s now gone. There were 11 professional cops they’re still on the job and have the best interest of the people to look after.

Put your specs on Snarky (good name, fits you, no?). The Cop was being charged by two guys when he pulled his gun. He didn’t pull it on the brat girl. He pulled it on the two guys, and even then he kept it pointed down, and holstered it as soon as he went back to the girl. Being first on the scene, this cop got the brunt of the mob turmoil. How would you like to initially be the only cop surrounded by a 130 plus thug mob-ocracy.

Stop saying everything is fine now, and it’s all settled. It isn’t. The rage is just below the surface, and a lot of that pent up rage is on the part of very much maligned police officers throughout the U.S. while our own half black, but that’s the half that counts Prez and his thug regime constantly stir the pot of racial divide, class warfare and hostility towards its own citizens.

Our Prez is a sicko, a Manchurian candidate in the best use of the definition. Wake up Snarky, you are being used to aide and abet this kind of mob behavior by trying to rationalize and justify it. You are just the Obama regime and race pimps’ useful tool.

You can see the still frames of the cop here - and if the police chief doesn't see it he is being blinded by politics.

The rest of it is finished

No it isn't. Even in the article, one of the racist agitators said the policeman resigning is a start, but it isn't over.

This police chief should've defended the officer. What the police chief has done is give those who want to disrupt communities an opening which they'll exploit.

Blame totally goes on the girl for not following a police officers orders and for those who planned and escalated the ILLEGAL gathering.

This is a twofer for the communists. It supports attacks on private property while protecting change agents. The video clearly shows an agent provocateur reaching behind him feigning a weapon to entice the officer to draw his weapon. Other officers witnessed this and chased after him.
