Released bikers give clashing accounts of Twin Peaks shootout

As more bikers are released from McLennan County Jail, the accounts of what led up to the deadly shootout at Twin Peaks come into sharper conflict with each other.

Police and prosecutors have painted the May 17 shooting as a clash of rival “gangs” — primarily the Bandidos and Cossacks motorcycle clubs — that were armed and prepared to settle scores in a public place.

Waco police have said more than 300 weapons found at the scene show there was “criminal intent” among the 177 who were jailed in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

“(It) indicates to the public that these are not clubs, these are criminal gangs that came here with the intent or anticipation of violence,” Waco police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said in the week after the shooting.

Bikers and their attorneys give different accounts of the cause of the conflict, depending on their sympathies toward one group or another.

I’d like to have a detailed account of which weapons were fired recently, and a list of police weapons that were fired at the incident. That would include all weapons carried by Federal agents.

“Bikers and their attorneys give different accounts of the cause of the conflict, depending on their sympathies toward one group or another.”

I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you!

(Still, apparently none are claiming that all nine dead bikers were killed via head shots from a phalanx of police in the parking lot hosing them down with fully automatic machine guns.)

There may have been 300 weapons found, but how many bikers had CCH licenses? How many open carried?

For those that haven't been to Twin Peaks, they reserve multiple parking spaces for cycles, and have since they opened.

In Texas, it is NOT illegal to bring a weapon to a restaurant that serves alcohol, but there are restrictions.

Makes me wonder how much these cops had to do with the “Branch Davidians”

Not much, really. The Branch Davidian standoff took place near Axtell, TX, which is in unincorporated McLennan County. The local law enforcement in that area is the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

The media have, for years, associated the Branch Davidian compound with Waco, probably because of their rank ignorance as to the location of Axtell. The Branch Davidian episode didn't occur in Waco at all, of course, but about 10 miles northeast. Consequently, few (if any) of the law enforcement personnel involved would have been City of Waco police.

Alright, who were the dumb-ass bikers who didn’t bring at least 2 weapons?

Some of those “weapons” were finger nail clippers. From the witnesses they can only give an account from their perspective and immediate area. I think after the first shots were fired everyone started looking for cover. All seem to agree that there was a lot of semi auto fire going on.

"Waco police have said more than 300 weapons found at the scene show there was 'criminal intent.'"

Including "cop-killer" forks, no doubt.

Bearing arms now equals "criminal intent."

Many of these weapons weren’t capable of firing ammonution.
Rather they were knives and other such items.

The picture is getting clearer. Starting to sound like some Cossacks instigated the violence and then some cops went “Rambo.” Clearly a ton of over-charging going on here, too - probably a continued attempt to block civil lawsuits against the city and those cops (some of which have already been filed).

Keep in mine the Branch Davidians were located some 10 miles or so northeast of Waco.
So the Waco cops would not have been involved. I think some federal agency was the
one in charge up there.
