Sarah Palin Calls Lena Dunham A 'Pedophile' And Defends Duggar Family

Sarah Palin has accused TV star Lena Dunham of pedophilia and decried the “double standards” of the media as she defended a conservative family whose eldest son allegedly molested his sisters.
In a Facebook post about the media treatment of the Duggar family, stars of TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Palin writes: “Hey Lena, why not laugh off everyone’s sexual ‘experiments’ as you haughtily enjoy the rewards of your own perversion? You pedophile, you.”
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the parents of Josh Duggar, said their son fondled four of his sisters and a family babysitter when he was a teenager and confessed to them. Josh Duggar has apologized for unspecified bad behavior.
Palin writes that she is “not defending the Duggar boy’s obvious wrongdoing” and that she is “not an apologist for any sexual predator”.
But she insists that “the Duggar debate needs to shift from solely the boy’s obvious wrongdoing when he was 14 years old”. Josh Duggar is now 27.
Palin is referring to an essay Dunham wrote that described how, as a seven-year-old, Dunham asked her one-year-old sister for kisses in exchange for candies, and also looked at her sibling’s vagina.
Last year Dunham apologized to anyone who may have found parts of her book “painful or triggering for people to read”, and for an “insensitive” joke in the passage.
But Palin writes that the media has not sufficiently denounced Dunham, and instead suggests the media think “Dunham’s sexual assault on her sibling is cute, and she’s rewarded for it with fame and fortune”.
“Meanwhile, they crucify another, along with an entire family,” she continues..

She didn’t “Defend” the family, she is pointing out the hypocrisy in the media and she is right..BOTH should be treated the same, Lena Dunham is a pervert who molested her little sister and wrote about it and seemed to have enjoyed every minute of it. Josh Duggar did horrible things to his sister, if you want to pass judgment on one and not the other that is wrong..both are equally despicable..but of course the media has their own agenda here..a liberal child molester is treated with cheers and a TV show on HBO, and that is because liberals have no morals

Such actions by a 14 year old are quite different from those by an older teen or adult. And really, really different when by a 7 year old.
Let’s try to keep something vaguely resembling perspective on this.
The seven year old is a pedophile, but a teenager was just mistaken.

You're grossly ignorant of the subject matter. Both young teens and younger children have extremely low recidivism rates. That is one of the reasons states like Arkansas keep the records of juveniles in cases like Duggar's confidential.
The difference between Duggar and Dunham is that Duggar knows he was wrong while Dunham doesn't.
Both were wrong, both offended. One did so at age seven, the other at age 14 and up.
At age 14 and up, one can be charged and prosecuted as an adult. We do not charge seven year olds as adults as seven year olds do not know right from wrong.
At age 14 and up, one should know right from wrong.
It’s time to hear their side of the story and not just what the media says about them. The victims deserve to stand up to the people who are harming them now.

And so it is not lost, I want to repeat something: There is no dispute that, after his first confession to his parents, Josh repeated his crimes at least twice. Jim Bob and Michelle knew what their son had done, knew what he was capable of doing, and still failed to protect their own daughters.
This is not a small matter. This is everything.
Also inexcusable is the Duggars inconceivably selfish decision to hide this giant, neon family skeleton from the world as they spent years fabricating the false front of an ideal conservative and Christian family, and from behind that false front, sought fame, and national political and cultural influence.
Let’s stipulate that the release of Josh Duggar’s juvenile record was wrong, and that whoever is behind the leak should be punished. Juvenile records are sealed for a reason — a very good reason, and this breach was almost certainly motivated by personal animus and/or partisan political purposes.
Let’s also stipulate that the media double standard in its coverage of Josh Duggar’s admitted molestations, and its non-coverage of Lena Dunham’s disgusting (and admitted) sexual behavior towards her younger sister, is every bit as hypocritical and unjust as Governor Sarah Palin laid out in her superb Facebook post Thursday.

Simply put, the Duggar family, including Josh, have every right to move past this and live their lives. It would have been just as appropriate, and even a plus for our culture and Christianity, had the Duggars pursued fame and cultural status after going public about what Josh did, and to have used that experience as part of the narrative of their Christian family.
That is not what the Duggars did.
Jim Bob and Michelle not only failed to protect their daughters from a son they knew was a sexual predator, through a lie of omission, they selfishly chose not to protect the Christian cause, people they call friends, and even the fate of the country from the all-too predictable consequences of that lie being uncovered.
As far as Josh Duggar, setting aside his horrific juvenile crimes, what kind of man worries enough about his serial-molestations being exposed to the point of legal action but still accepts a high-profile executive position at an organization like the Family Research Council?
Not a very good one.
There’s a page of what Dunham wrote. She later said that calling herself a sexual predator was supposed to be a joke. It certainly isn’t phrased as one, and her actions indicate otherwise.
The difference is that Duggar is dependent. Dunham is note only unrepentant, she is recalling the event as an amusing anecdote and feels no sense of shame for what she did.
Not sure she could be a predator at age 7.
Jim Bob Duggar seems to agree, at least when it comes to his son (from the interview on Fox):
At that point, Jim Bob Duggar told Kelly that his wife “actually said pedophile in that [robocall]. And actually a pedophile is an adult that preys on children. Joshua was actually 14 and just turned 15 when he did what he did.
“I think the legal definition is 16 and up for an adult preying on a child. He was a child preying on a child.”
However, that’s not at all meant to defend Dunham’s actions and more importantly her very casual if not celebratory attitude, IF they are even true. Keep in mind that the woman is a serial liar. She lied about being raped so it wouldn’t necessarily surprise me if she lied or greatly embellished this in her “book” to make her seem “cool” and “sexually liberated” even from an early age.
If true that at age of 7 she looked at her 1 year old sister’s vagina, even to the point of “spreading it open” to see what it looked like, I wouldn’t necessarily, given her age at the time, call that molestation.
However other passages in her book claiming that she bribed her sister with cookies and other treats in exchanges for kisses on the lips that didn’t seem very “sisterly”, that she laid on top of her in a sexual manner and then there is the masturbation while lying next to her sister…..that to me would be a red flag of a disturbed mind or of a child who herself had been molested. And FWIW, Dunham’s sister is now a lesbian.
