Former President Jimmy Carter told AARP Bulletin during a recent interview that many Americans hold feelings of superiority toward minorities. Mr. Carter spoke on a range of subjects with the magazine, including campaign spending and lobbyists, but he made a point to say that the U.S. still is lacking in terms of safeguarding civil rights.
The recent publicity about mistreatment of black people in the judicial and police realm has been a reminder that the dreams of the civil rights movement have not been realized. [ ] Many Americans still have racist tendencies or feelings of superiority to people of color, Mr. Carter told AARP Bulletin, The Hill reported Thursday.
The former president added that the politics of the 1970s have changed in such a way that he would not get the level Republican support he enjoyed as the 39th president.
There was harmony among congressmen when I was there, and I got just as much support from Republicans as I did from Democrats. I cant imagine myself as a successful candidate today, Mr. Carter said, The Hill reported.

This allegation that Carter was an eeevil white racist because he is a Democrat is a conceit only to be found among young conservatives who listen to the nonsense that Hannity and Beck and their imitators spout about the Civil Rights Era.
Hannity would have you believe that Martin Luther King was a staunch Republican leading a march of valiant conservatives into the brave new world that we all now inhabit. Nothing could be further from the truth. King was a man of the Left and the Left rightly claims him.
Conservatives were not for integration and were not for the national government forcing a progressive race agenda on America. And if you doubt that you need only go read some copies of National Review from that era. You’ll find Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan among the conservatives who opposed the Civil Rights Act.
Jimmy Carter was a liberal Democrat. Lyndon Johnson was a liberal Democrat. The Civil Rights bill was their baby. Those who want to puff out their chests and boast about how they would have opposed those evil white racists of the 1960s are fellow travellers of Lyndon and Jimmy. Embrace them, they’re your soulmates.
F#CK YOU, JIMMAH
Yes
It’s just the ignorance of millenials and xers
HANNITY is just believing what he wants to believe
As our late pal Kenny Bunk used to say: “The man’s brain is a life support system for his hair..”
>>>”we do owe him a thanks for being so awful Reagan was able to beat him and save the country.”<<<
We should be thankful there was a Reagan at that time; Or, we’d be in the same position we’ve been; Clinton (aka Klingon, 8 yrs, GBW, 8 yrs, Obi 8 yrs...) - kind tedious oligarch after oligarch..
Don’t mistake “black culture” for culture at all; illiteracy, rampant breeding without responsibility, violent crime, and theft are not culture, but an indication of an absolute cultural vacuum.
There certainly are decent, moral, hard-working blacks; they aren’t “counter-cultural”. People of any color living the lifestyle described above are simply unevolved - like simple Neanderthals or modern gorillas.
You’re right, and it really manifests itself 1) in the college classroom, when they see how far behind the qualified students they really are, and 2) in the workplace, when they get token jobs and hear other people using big words around them that they can’t comprehend.
Libs did them no favors by trying to thrust them into the mainstream while destroying the education system; while whites are also falling behind due to poor education, it dropped blacks off the bottom of the chart.
Which is what I said in a single sentence
Glad you did! Though there are still those who think it was a good thing he was removed by Carter.
IIRC, Carter sought assistance from the Soviet communists to help him defeat Ronaldus Magnus.
Yeah the Republican Guard
You mean the IRI Revolutionary guard.
There have been many debates over the last 9 yrs on FR about reasons the Shah was overthrown; some justifying his overthrow. You probably missed them since joining in 2011.
I joined in 2011 I lurked previously. I know the history. I know Persians. I also know the left. Over throwing the Shah was Carter’s version of the Arab spring
Great :)
Jimmah, mindlessly flailing away having lost his title as “The Most Inept POTUS Ever”.
