Good question, but that is not what he’s being charged with. Maybe that’s next and will come out in discovery. Real estate, or so I’ve read...........

Per various thread posts and linked articles, Hastert entered Congress with a net worth of about $270k. When he left Congress he had a net worth of between $4 and $17 million.
Must be investing a lot of his Congressional salary (probably averaged around $150k per year) in cattle futures.
