I was a big Duggar fan. I overlooked their religious views because I was under the impression that their parenting was yielding good fruit. Obviously I was wrong and now I no longer overlook their religious views. I do not hold them up any longer as examples of good parenting.

I’m without you. I used to think it was cute that whenever my daughter watched their show she would wear skirts and dresses for the following few days. I thought it was a wholesome influence.

With their own admission about how they handled the situation now known, so very surprised at how many voices are claiming that as Christians, we are forgiven and none of us want sins from our teen years made public.

A blogger I deeply respect framed it in a parental rights ideology. A parent knows better than any counselor or LSW what their son would need to heal from this. Over a dozen comments agreeing that as as Christians we are not to judge fellow Christians.

This has left me pondering my own sinful heart and attitudes toward fellow believers. I still don’t see a contrite and humble spirit of repentance in him, but only God knows the heart.

No parent, no matter how Christian, and how good, has raised perfect children. I would not judge someone for what they did as a child.
