Excellent historical commentary is being provided.
Me: I deduce that Homer is referring to a brand of cigarette lighters.
I’m not a smoker or a collector, so my knowledge ends with Bic and Zippo. One of my sons bought a Zippo lighter with a decal relating to some band he likes, iirc, and then found he wasn’t old enough to buy fuel for it! The lighter is just a tchotchke, but the fuel is “smoking paraphernalia.”
That was wonderful....
And I have a feeling that we have some kind of secret weapon to unleash on the Japanese ...
What secret weapon?
(The FBI would like a word with you...)
You did it, Homer. Well done!
Maybe you should take the hint and quit smoking! There’s a wartime shortage on replacement lungs.
Tell them to talk to my uncle, friendly Joe Stalin.
Some people think that someday you won’t even be allowed to smoke in your own home, but I think that’s nuts. We just won a war for freedom.
Quite the culmination of you labor of love.
Now, as Mr. Churchill said, time to finish with those treacherous Japanese!
Happy VE Day!
You too!
Happy VE Day! Long, fantastic project on the home stretch. Thanks again as ever.
Thanks for what must be a labor of love. A very well done!
Colonel Sink, of course, was played by Dale Dye in Band of Brothers.
Ronson was a popular brand of lighter back in the day. Their slogan was IIRC was “Lights first time, every time”
Regrettably this slogan came to be applied to the Sherman Tanks which were gasoline powered. One hit from an anti tank round and the Sherman, more likely than not would burst into flames:-(
