North Texas Islamic Tribunal Using Sharia Law To Settle Disputes

Sharia Law, it's how Muslims settle disputes in many countries. Now, that law is being practiced in what's believed to be a first-of-its-kind institution operating in the United States.

In North Texas, just outside of Dallas, three men are the judges who make up what they call the Islamic Tribunal.

"To help to solve the problems and the disputes between two parties," said Imam Moujahed Bakhach.

Following Sharia, or Islamic law, the tribunal is operating as a legal nonprofit registered with the state of Texas.

On their website it states, "The need for a mediation and non-binding arbitration firm that adheres to Islamic principles in the Muslim community has been a long time in the making."

The judges say they only deal with civil cases in the community, helping settle issues ranging from business disputes to divorce.

Better nip it in the bud.

I’m very uncomfortable with this slippery slope we’re on.

Rick Perry is irrelevant. He’s no longer governor or a serious contender for the presidency.

They can’t allow this crap.

I can’t see how any of it’s legal. Every religion has “laws” in it, they all have moral codes that are enforced by whatever structure is regarded as the authoritative body of the religion.

I can’t see how they get to do this and make any claim to have court systems that are not recognized as legal US courts.

This has to be stopped. It’s un-American.

This so-called court is voluntary. However, the Irving City Council is backing legislation that will ban these courts. Stay tuned.

Well thus just made my reflux worse. This gas no place in the US, much less Texas. Libs cry about the separation of church and state, but I’m sure they will encourage us to embrace the tribunal because our Muslim friends mean no harm in this. Hello slippery slope

I do not like it, either. But do you intend on stopping Orthodox Jews, Mennonites and other religious minorities from following their own religious based laws? They do, you know?

By who’s authority did this happen?

It violates every tenet of the Constitution, and I’m sure Texas’ constitution.

Gonna start my own tribunal. Taken the law into my own hands and interpret it MY way. Lets see what happens.

Tell me how Islam is like all the other religions you mentioned.

It is a god-damn cancer on mankind. Which of the other ones you mentioned want to take over the US and replace our system of laws with theirs.

Which ones will kill everyone who doesn’t convert?

Religious freedom is not unlimited. We don’t let people do sacrifices - voluntary or not. Their religious laws do not trump secular laws.

Don’t fall for the idiotic argument that because other religions have laws that we cannot do anything about Sharia. That is bs and anything else is people suckered into some liberal rationalization analogy that is specious.

Stay classy Tex.

I’m so disappointed to hear this about Lone Stars and Rick Perry.

“We are not here to invade the White House or invade Austin. We are humble and want to settle a problem between Muslims,”

ORLY?

It’s voluntary binding arbitration. There are plenty like it here in NY, among the orthodox Jewish population.
