he federal government spent a whopping $4.5 billion on costly new drugs to cure hepatitis C among Medicare patients last year, a steep price that is likely to keep growing, federal records show.

Spending on the super-selling drugs – which can cost $1,000 a day – increased more than 15 times compared to the previous year, according to a report Monday by ProPublica.

Gov't might be better off writing a large check and making the drug a generic.

These Hep C and AIDS drugs ARE the WHOLE REASON for GOVT take over. Shove all sorts of funding (under the radar) to immorally caused diseases. Govt playing god and trying to cure the sinful while encouraging it in the next generation.

Unless there are incentives for people to choose less expensive treatments and medications, there is no way that medical care will not bankrupt the nation.

Here's a modest proposal which some auto insurers do. How about giving anyone on Medicare or health insurance a partial refund check (something like 50% of average costs) every six months if they don't use their insurance during those months? A lot of good things would happen if the public were empowered to take care of their own medical care.

How about charging more for homosexuals and drug users like they do for smokers? That’ll never happen.

Government is better off paying for the drug that cures the disease than paying for the treatment required when a person suffers from the disease. That is why the drug is priced as it is.

What they don’t tell you was the cost BEFORE this came along.

How about $10,000/treatment? And it cost $90,000+!

Go whine elsewhere!
