Tim Cook: Apple Will Oppose Bills Like Indiana's 'Religious Freedom' Law

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook on Sunday broadened his criticism of a new law in Indiana, which opponents say could be used to discriminate against gay people, to other states that he says have similar laws.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law Thursday, sparking an outcry from those, including Cook, who say it could be used to protect businesses that refuse to serve gay people. The law's supporters say it will prevent the government from forcing business owners from providing services that go against their religious beliefs.

"These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear," Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed, referring not only to Indiana's law, which goes into effect in July, but also to those of "more than two dozen states."

Microsoft reverses position on gay rights

http://news.cnet.com/Microsoft-reverses-position-on-gay-rights/2100-1014_3-5697935.html

“After weeks of controversy over the issue, Microsoft has decided to return to a position of legislative support for gay and lesbian rights, at both the state and federal level.
In a letter to employees, Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said on Friday that the company would support antidiscrimination legislation, after backing off support for a Washington state bill on the issue last month.”

I like my Apple products and I love their service, but this homosexual crusade is flat over the top.

~~ I will not purchase another Apple product until Tim Cook is removed and Apple repudiates him. ~~

You don’t have to worry about Tim Cook because he won’t go anywhere on this legislation ... as the support is strong for it. He may yap and yammer about it for while, but that’s all that is going to happen in the long run. The whole thing will fall apart, and then he’ll get back to the PRODUCTS which are sold at Apple, because the PRODUCTS are what the “business” is about ... and it’s NOT the homosexual agenda!

For leftists, the issue is never the issue.

The issue is always The Revolution.

You have been warned.

Are you ignoring the fact that Microsoft took this same position back in 2005? I certainly don’t support it, but blaming one company and not the other for the same positions is duplicitous!

I don’t care what the issue is for someone else who has gone nuts ... LOL ...

I only care about the issue from the standpoint that I look at it ... and for me, it’s products are for business in the marketplace, politics are at the ballot box and with your legislators, and “money for nothing” (that is, money given to support organizations, apart from products purchased) are for some worthy organizations, like the ones I listed in Post #114.

The way society is going these days, that’s what is a rational reaction to our impending demise! And that demise is the resulting judgement that Jesus, the Messiah of Israel will bring, and he will CLEAN IT ALL UP, in his coming one-world government that he installs at his return (which is fairly close now!).

In the meantime, before his arrival, evil is permeated into about everything that goes on, and Jesus said it would be that way, as we are approaching those “Days of Noah” that he was talking about!

You may have the money to buy whatever you want, be it iPads or Starbucks, but I have to count my pennies very carefully, and even then, I often come up short before the next payday.

If I choose not to buy something that is twice as expensive as something that will work (or taste) as well, then that is what I will do, and politics has nothing to do with my choice.

I understand your viewpoint, and “defend to the death” your right to have it. ;o]

we are approaching

Of course ... but is what we're approaching only days away, or millennia away?

I suggest that folks should be prepared as much for the latter as for the former.

Meanwhile, leftists bend everything they do toward the destruction of all that is good and decent.

No.

But this isn’t 2005. And this story isn’t about Microsoft devoting resources to go after Indiana today.

Let me explain a couple of things to show I’m not that different than you. I don’t go into Starbucks for fancy drinks, bit just for plain ordinary coffee, and that’s fairly cheap as compared to my other favorite place, which is QuikTrip (I get coffee there too, at other times). I really do go there for their super-high speed WiFi (and all other WiFi around is slow as molasses, usually!). So the coffee, I would get at QuikTrip if I wasn’t there ... I’m actually there for the WiFi and also for the ease of sitting down with my iPad for a while without anyone giving me a hassle (they don’t hassle me).

I might mention that QuikTrip is the BEST convenience store/gas station I’ve seen anywhere in this country! [ ... just a side note ... ]

THEN about the Apple iPad ... I found out a long time ago that if you HATE your product you buy, when using it, you just won’t use it unless you have to. My iPad is a JOY to actually USE and it gets HEAVY USE, very heavy use, and it holds up well! And the service at Apple is terrific. I had something happen to my last iPad (a few weeks ago) and it was replaced by Apple in a mere ten minutes of me being there. That was on a Saturday morning, when the problem showed up, and they had it taken care of immediately! I’ve never seen such consistent and good customer support as shown by this example, but for me it’s been like this over a long period of time!

You get EXTREME VALUE ... constantly and repeatedly ... with Apple products. That serves me very well!

Your money goes FURTHER with an excellent product and you get PAID BACK over the life of the unit, with the use you put it to!

ISRAEL is the “clock” and if it were not for God saying that he will intervene at the very last a minute just before Israel is destroyed (thus, he will prevent it) ... I would say that Israel is VERY CLOSE to being obliterated ... and we can see how politics is now turning the world against Israel, including the USA! Even right here on Free Republic there are those who are against Israel!

SO with Israel being the “clock” ... we’re talking about something that will be within the lifetime of the majority of the readers of Free Republic. You may love to see it yourself. Most will!

I’ll sound like those cartoon characters ... but ... “THE END IS NEAR!” ... :-) ...

I buy the best of everything that I can afford to buy, and I ask questions before make a purchase. I have to do that because my money is so hard to come by.

But thanks for explaining what you really didn’t have to. I generally accept people for who they are, even if I can’t see them face-to-face. FReepers are awesome!

Hmmm ... Garfunkel ... you seem a just a little, tiny bit ... ummmm ... TENSE!

Is Garfunkel the "libertarian" side of you, and Oates the "Other (undefined in your post)" side of you? Or visa versa?

Oh well, in any case, it is probably difficult for you to be two-sided.

Hmmmm .... well, maybe on second thought it isn't, since there are now identifiable groupings such as LGBTQTRLKOUPOIJMNPOIUYDY, etc.

So, maybe two-sided isn't a big deal after all. Would a shorthanded description for Your group be "two-faced"?

AZottedTroll photo AZottedTroll_zpsepbmnrpl.jpg

 photo FR-Butt-Hurt-4_zpsdabed7a7.jpg

By the way, Garfunkel and Oates may each want to fill out an FR ButtHurt form, since there are probably two-sides to be considered in identifying exactly why You (They?) have been Zotted from the Premier Conservative Forum on the Internet.

Just for Your information and future reference:

The FR Bible Research and Information Branch (sometimes identified as the (Religion Forum on FR) has voluntarily taken up your question about not making hamburgers for gay people.

Please note that the final FRBR&I Branch Report will likely identify them as homosexuals, since the homosexual lobby has misappropriated the word "gay" .. and for sure, homosexuals never, ever seem to be gay, like in "really happy").

An early draft FRBR&I Branch Report states that it's possible that someone may actually have tried to improperly insert some fake scripture into a copy of a Bible.

The fake scripture apparently read something along the lines of "will you have fries with that burger?" and/or "would you like to upsize the fries with that burger?"

Research continues, and the final report may be delayed over some early draft theological notes being attributed to either an early Pope or to Martin Luther.

Also, it appears that you may incorrectly believe that FreeRepublic has a whole lot of closets packed full of self-righteous homos, who spend their days and nights just pickin' and chosin' what sins they want to be offended about.

In checking with the FR Building and Maintenance Committee, no records exist of any closets, of any type, existing, or ever having existed at FreeRepublic, nor of any requests and/or plans for constructing any closets.
