Tim Cook: Apple Will Oppose Bills Like Indiana's 'Religious Freedom' Law
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook on Sunday broadened his criticism of a new law in Indiana, which opponents say could be used to discriminate against gay people, to other states that he says have similar laws.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law Thursday, sparking an outcry from those, including Cook, who say it could be used to protect businesses that refuse to serve gay people. The law's supporters say it will prevent the government from forcing business owners from providing services that go against their religious beliefs.
"These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear," Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed, referring not only to Indiana's law, which goes into effect in July, but also to those of "more than two dozen states."

l glad that you mentioned abortion. I totally agree.
After this story, the real question should be put to you “Apple lovers” as to what side are you people on.
Like I said, when comes to a choice of conservative principals and your devotion to that company, you people will sell out the right quicker than you can say iOS.
I don’t have to apologize for anything. I’m stand with Indiana, as well as the guy they kicked out because he was a lobbyist against the gay agenda. Form the looks of I the FR iCult will still stay firmly under Tim Cook’s desk.
So rough translation:
Screw you Indiana. I love Apple far more, and wont condemn their naked political assault on conservatives!
You’re the same member of the APPLE-HATER CULT you’ve always been on most of the threads having to do with Apple. I don’t consider your opinion as worth anything, because of your membership in the Apple-Hater Cult, which has been going on for as long as I can remember, here on Free Republic!
It is not about Tim Cooks sexuality, it is about his willingness to enlist the state to force people to violate their religious beliefs. He is dangerous because of people like you who weigh their Iphones against freedom and come down on the side of the Iphone.
The way I see it, is that anyone can enlist the state to have people adhere to one political view or another. The point is, as far as I’m concerned, is to get involved with your legislator and have them act in the way, politically, that you know is best.
I’ll lobby my legislator and I’ll support my position by the ballot box, and I have always done that. I’ll continue doing that. I’m in Oklahoma and it’s already listed as one of those states having a similar law and I have never had a problem with it and I have never lobbied my legislators against it and I have no intention of trying to push back and get that law off the books. I’m not in Indiana, so the people there will have to vote with their own legislators, as I can’t do that. I’m already doing that with my own legislators!
As far as products and services are concerned, I’ll continue buying all my products and services according to what SERVES ME THE BEST, as that’s the whole point to the Free Enterprise system in that companies make the “best product available” so that customers will buy their product and not another product. That’s exactly what I’m doing! I intend to keep right on doing that in the free enterprise system and I intend to keep right on voting for the legislators who will support the conservative position in laws that they put into place, here in Oklahoma and whenever I have a vote on the national elections!
You guys will do anything to dodge this subject, won’t you?
Ooooh, I’m an “ Apple hater” (like anyone on the right should be at this point). Wow, I’m so hurt. You sound like some leftist on MSNBC quite frankly with that crap. Soon you will start calling people Apple Deniers.
I didn’t dodge the subject on you being a member of the APPLE-HATER CULT on Free Republic, and I didn’t dodge the subject on BUYING THE BEST PRODUCT around, which meets my needs, being the best in a product, which are Apple Products, and I didn’t dodge the subject on getting involved politically and voting and supporting by way of the ballot box and my own legislators, and I didn’t dodge the subject by telling what organizations I support, apart from products ... in the way of MONEY FOR NOTHING ... which are listed in my Post #57.
You’re the one who is dodging your APPLE-HATER CULT position, while I made it abundantly clear how I deal with my position in the marketplace in the free enterprise system, in my political action and support and in my support for organizations who get my money!
You’re the same APPLE-HATER TROLL you’ve always been!
Yeah, whatever. This has nothing to do with your little buying decisions. Want to keep shoving bucks in Cook’s jock? Go for it!
The point is that it is very clear from every one of your rambling posts that you wont even bring yourself to even say that Apple is wrong to do what they are. You keep going on about “BUYING THE BEST PRODUCT around” because in the end you, and Swordmaker will never bring yourself to betray your love for that brand whom doesn’t give a damn who either of you are, by even clearly stating a conservative position on this issue ON A CONSERVATIVE WEBSITE.
You are still in shill salesman mode the whole way through because that’s what matters more to you. Like because you vote some other way or give money to some group that’s supposed to mean something because the corporation that you two shill for on FR is taking their profits you people love to brag about so much and using some of it to go after your fellow conservatives to force a POV on them that they do not want.
The point is that if you people want to use FR as a platform to shill for this company then you ought to not be shocked when people here actually expect you to stick up for a conservative position against that company in cases like this. And the thing is that YOU CANT.
But at least I will give you credit for posting seeing that Swordy is still hiding under some rock.
You can keep supporting businesses that attack conservatives all you want. Keep buying from Apple, and keep supporting artists who undermine everything you believe in. For me, I will not do that. I will minimize that any penny of mine goes in the pocket of the fascists that are going after my rights.
Your money is yours ... do whatever you want with it. I’m telling you about what I will do ... AND ... I also gave a list of other organizations that “YOU” should support, with MONEY FOR NOTHING ... namely just “give your money to them for nothing in exchange”.
You can see those organizations listed on Post #114 ...
What could be the reason Tim Cook doesn't oppose enslaving Chinese Christians ? Is because he's a racist and thinks of Chinese as subhuman?
I know you as a long-time APPLE-HATER TROLL and therefore as someone who is a useless poster on these Apple threads that many Freepers here want to get pinged to.
I’ve told everyone here what my buying is based on, what my politics are based on and where my money goes to, with MONEY FOR NOTHING in support of other organizations.
As far as Swordmaker is concerned, he has a ping list for the benefit of Apple users and their products ... and they appreciate that, as I do. This thread doesn’t appear to be for Apple users and their products but for politics and laws on the books in Indiana. Now, as to whether Swordmaker will ping the list for that, maybe and maybe not. I don’t see it as something to help Apple users with their products, but as a general political matter, which anyone can see for themselves ... which I did and why I posted here.
As for you and your APPLE-HATER TROLLING ... you can get lost just like all the other familiar Apple-Hater Trolls that I regularly see on the other Apple threads!
But I also can’t stand all of the self -righteous...
Not everyone wants to celebrate sin and name it good and you can’t make them do it by slandering them that they are all closet queers for not celebrating the diseased anal sex thing. Christians don’t celebrate the adultery or theft lifestyle either. They don’t hate sinners but they don’t love the sin - including their own. It does not matter if you understand this or not. It is our faith and we have freedom of religion.
Seriously? And you think repeating that is making any difference? At this point you wont find many people on FR will into be an “APPLE-LOVING” simp with you right now. Why do you think even Swordy isnt backing you up?
” This thread doesnt appear to be for Apple users and their products but for politics and laws on the books in Indiana. “
Bwahahahahahahaha!!! OMG! Are you kidding me? THAT’S the spin you came up with? All someone has to do is mention Apple on this site, and you clowns will be there with Ping list blazing, but this?
“Oh well, this doesn’t have anything to do with the company we worship. Hurumph! This is about Indiana law! Yeah, that’s it!!”
Just stop! You are making a fool out of yourself at this point. Good lord, it is seriously like listening to leftists I debate on Reddit down to the letter! It’s embarrassing to see anyone on FR actually talk like that.
Get lost! APPLE-HATER TROLLS are useless posters!
Maybe you can ask Jim Rob for a “safe space” away from the bad reality that the terrible conservatives keep putting in front of you?
You’re another APPLE-HATER TROLL that can Get Lost!
Queers will be queer.
