The roads do need work but we don’t need higher taxes to do it. There are plenty of other places to find the money. For instance, the state could stop buying land.
They already get $800M in gas tax revenue. The 1% sales tax increase proposal would generate another $840M. In other words this “republican” is supporting a 105% tax increase in that category!
If he thinks the budget is struggling now, just wait until the feds pull the medicare expansion money that was a known temporary revenue stream. He expanded medicare to help obamacare! That is going to break the entire budget in about 5 years!

I keep on seeing pro-tax increase commercials that basically boil down to “Raise taxes for our children!” I hope my fellow Michiganders are not stupid enough to fall for this appeal to emotion.
