Pope Francis will visit the White House in September during his trip to the United States, the Obama administration announced Thursday.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said that the pontiff and the president will talk about their "shared values" during the September 23 visit, "including caring for the marginalized and the poor; advancing economic opportunity for all; serving as good stewards of the environment; protecting religious minorities and promoting religious freedom around the world; and welcoming and integrating immigrants and refugees into our communities."
Earlier this year, House Speaker John Boehner announced that Pope Francis will address a joint session of Congress on September 24.
Pope Francis will also visit Philadelphia and New York during his U.S. visit, his first since becoming the leader of the Catholic Church.

The Pope should not be visiting a head of state. Heads of State can visit the Pope in Rome.

I agree. This is a serious diminishment of the Pope’s position. But that’s been true from the beginning with this Pope, who doesn’t seem to have the faintest idea of what the position means and does not treat it with any dignity at all.

O: Whatever. Now, have you come to terms with your church's radical behavior, like the crusades and burning Joan of Noah's Ark.
Pope Francis: Uhh..that was centuries ago..we have since apologized for the crusades and have canonized Joan of Arc.
O: Oh, so you shot her out of a canon after burning her. You leave me no choice but to reassess our relationship with your church and I will send my campaign team to undermine your re-election.
Pope Francis: This is a life time job. I either die or retire. There is no re-election.

That is the money quote and the reason for the meeting; all the rest is just fluff. It will be a love fest.
Sit back and watch because the FRoman Catholics haven't seen anything yet. The pope and Obama will work quite well together.
