Despite being vehemently opposed to Obamacare, Ted Cruz is signing up for insurance under President Obama’s health care law.

The Texas Republican Senator and newly-announced presidential candidate, known for his staunch opposition to the Affordable Care Act, told CNN on Tuesday that he will be joining the millions of Americans enrolled in insurance under the law.

Right. And to illustrate the hypocrisy of establishment members of congress and the administration.

Technically, his wife is eligible for COBRA; but I think Cruz has something up his sleeve. Plus, you are correct, many people have no other choice but to sign up for Obamacare. Liberals want you to think all of these people on Obamacare are people who previously did not have insurance, but reality, most people had it and obamacare was the only insurance available to them.

“I believe we should follow the text of every law, even [a] law I disagree with,” Cruz said. “It’s one of the real differences—if you look at President Obama and the lawlessness, if he disagrees with a law he simply refuses to follow it or claims the authority to unilaterally change.”

Well, that's where I disagree with Cruz then. Where do we come off saying that just because something is called a "law" it is valid? We have supreme law of the land, the Constitution. Adhering to the Constitution is what we need.

Dang man, slavish acquiescence to invalid unconstitutional law is what has brought us to the brink. Obama's "lawlessness" is mainly his blatant unconstitutional acts.

Cruz is already the best leader on the scene with respect to GOP candidates for POTUS, your suggestions notwithstanding.

That may very well be true and I hope the best guy gets in there. I do not agree with those that think somebody has to completely agree with you to be the best candidate as is being brought up by Rush Limbaugh on another thread. Nobody agrees with anybody about everything. "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."

But this constitutional issue is the crux of the problem and no one person or "savior-politician" can fix it. Don't know if anyone except God's intervention can fix it. But the states and the people are going to need to get involved in rejecting and nullifying unconstitutional federal acts if we are to move away from the brink of tyranny and back towards a free constitutional republic. It will take more than a politician no matter how good he is.

"If he were to refuse to sign the law . . . "

Correction: I meant "obey the law," not "sign the law."

Well, then again, Cruz now has standing to sue.

...but I think Cruz has something up his sleeve.

Of course he does. People have had their own issues with Obamacare, but the Mainstream Media won't cover them except for the rare good stories. This is a high profile public figure who can tell his horror story and personalize it for the millions who have suffered in silence. The press can't ignore Cruz, no matter how hard they try. This is pure, gleaming gold.

Please point to where Ted Cruz stated the law was "valid"?

Quit with the Red Herrings already!

He is auditioning to be the President of the United States, the Chief Executive. Do you really think he would be a fit leader if he chose NOT to do things constitutionally and legally? Both following the law, AS IS, and also trying to change the law, using the constitutionally defined process?

This is what he is, the POTUS candidate that is most knowledgeable about the Constitution and the one who has and will follow the constitution with the most fidelity.

““I believe we should follow the text of every law, even [a] law I disagree with,” Cruz said.

That concisely explains Cruz’s position, despite Time’s effort to spin this as “hypocrisy.” If he were to refuse to sign the law, Time would castigate him for being a criminal. “

Exactly. Libs would say he is a liberal and selfish for not covering his family. If he took the freebie Senate plan, they say he was just like the elitists he criticizes.

The law mandates he has to have coverage. He is doing what he’s should do. It doesn’t mean he endorses it.

Ted Cruz is a GENIUS..he is making the libs look like damn fools..he is doing this on purpose..so that way during the primary and even in the general election he can say “Hey did you have to suffer with Obamacare because I DID and it was AWFUL” he can use his experience with Commiecare to his advantage..pure genius move

No one, and I mean no one supporting Cruz is looking at him as some type of "savior-politician".

Quit with the sour grapes responses because your guy, Walker, isn't liked as much.

“Hope that’s not true. Big mistake if it is.”

Actually, NO...

1) The law now REQUIRES you to have health Insurance.

2) He can counter lib claims by saying “I’m ON Obamacare. ARE YOU?????”

3) Gives him standing to file against it in court, as a “victim”, and even perhaps, testify in front of the Supremes about it???

By doing this, he’s cutting lib Obamacare attacks against Cruz off at the knees. Shrewd tactical move, and obviously pre-planned.

Got what you’re saying. So if a federal politician believes in the Constitution and has been excepted from an unconstitutional law by another asinine exemption in the law, what is he to do? Acquiesce to the unconstitutional law to show he’s a good guy? Wouldn’t it be more effective to denounce the exemption and also denounce the law as unconstitutional and lead the charge to reject it?

Maybe not. Maybe in his position, he would have to try to get it repealed if he became POTUS. Don’t know how he would do that because he would be the executor, not the lawmaker.

But I get your point. Maybe that’s what he needs to do in his position. I still think the states have another route to take - reject and nullify Obamacare and other unconstitutional federal acts.

Yes, it IS. The MenSeekingMen - especially FNC - plan is to ignore Cruz as usual for another year when the primaries begin.

Acts like this will force them to cover him. Awaiting hundreds more.

Conservative opposition to Cruz aside, I think the left will be no match for him, based on what he’s done so far. This recent move is genius.

“I think what Cruz needs to do is shut them up and hold a press conference explaining why he is eligible”

Might work but then were dealing with folk who are not interested in the truth.

I hope so. Look I hope the best guy wins - if that’s Cruz, great, love it. But no one politician is going to get us out of this mess. It may be only God can do it. But we’re at the point where the states and the people have got to decide what the Constitution and the freedom it protects is worth to them. It should be worth everything. If it’s worth anything, they need, at the state level, to start rejecting and nullifying unconstitutional federal acts like Obamacare.

Hope that’s not true. Big mistake if it is.

Whoa ... Really? Think. This is an absolutely brilliant idea for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that Cruz can personally expose the deficiencies of Obamacare, and personally relate to the problems of others snared in the bureaucracy.
