Best Applause Line: We need a leader who will stand with Israel, said the governor of Wisconsin.
Crickets: Describing, early in his remarks, his longstanding interest in the founding fathers.
Red Meat: Mr. Walker spoke at length about his record as governor and made broad references to foreign policy touchstones like Israel, Iran and the fight against Islamic terrorism.
Toughest Question: From a heckler, who shouted about workers rights. But Mr. Walker turned it to his advantage, joking that protesters had followed him from Wisconsin.
Entrance Song: Coming Home, by Avenged Sevenfold, a heavy metal band out of Southern California.
Mood in the Room: Intrigued and mostly appreciative. Mr. Walkers performance at the Iowa Freedom Summit in late January catapulted him to prominence in the early stages of the Republican race. Many people at CPAC wanted to see if he could deliver again....

Now we just have to convince our FRiends who would rather lose the Presidency then have Walker......
We shouldn’t waste our time.
If Cruz is the nominee, I will vote for him and I expect you will too. But if Walker is the nominee, I wouldn’t bet on some here voting for him.
Walker might, but your rabid support of him is rapidly convincing me that you are a shill for Walker, and he shouldn’t get my vote.
It goes both ways. You sound like a shill for Cruz. But Cruz would get my vote if he becomes the nominee. You probably wouldn’t vote for Walker.
No; whiny, entitled lazy socialists are the enablers of Muslim terrorists though.
I am going to try to be Christian and not engage in ridicule.
Walker has shut down planned parenthood, Perry has shut down planned parenthood, Jindal has shut down planned parenthood, even Chris Cristie has.
All have signed pro-life legislation.
Demean people who have made a real difference in the pro-life movement at your peril. Insult them if “serving the longest time as state attorney general” is more impressive to one. I will take those who have made a real difference in a concrete way. Being in W’s circle is an accolade. If only W. Bush had stood up more to the critics, we have that in Walker.
Walker beating the Unions and taking those vile acts by Union thugs pretty much in stride.
Why? Because he is an Evangelical. I’m glad Ted Cruz is an Evangelical, a solid Christian. I will do my best to act in a Christian way as well.
Not the ones I’ve seen. They are weak and they are not going to die for their beliefs because they don’t hold them in the same regard as the jihadi joes.
Of course, he said no such thing. He SAID “If I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the globe,”
That is nothing like saying “handling protests trained me to take on terrorists”. It is saying that his handling of protesters showed the strength of character he has, that would also enable him to handle other adversity.
The whole thing is stupid — WHO could ever claim they had actually already led a nation in the fight against terrorists? You obviously have to point to things in your current situation as indications of how you’d handle different things.
It’s like if someone said to me “But are you sure you could fix a leaky faucet”, and I responded “Well, I was able to re-wire the lights, and I replaced my garbage disposal, and hooked up my ice maker, so I think I could handle fixing a faucet”. Note that NONE of those other jobs “prepared me” — they are just examples of things I was able to learn to do on my own, which makes me confident I could also learn the other task.
Walker keeps providing good answers, and the liberal media keeps pretending that the answers make no sense.
Honestly, Walker being able to overcome some pretty vicious things I think goes to his faith and that is a big plus, a bit on the list of intangibles. But who needs to shill for anyone.
I like both, Jindal and Perry as well. We will see about the others.
Im more qualified for the presidency than Rick Santorum.
Thats the hill you want to die on?
That makes no sense.
Yawn. Walker by a massively huge margin pushed Cruz to the side today. People are more comfortable voting for a governor than a senator. I love Cruz, but we need him in the Senate - he can do that and Walker can play president.
As bad as those who thought Palin said “I can see Russia from my house”, just because Tina Fey said it on SNL.
Excuses and embarrassing ones at that.
Rick Santorum couldn’t hold a senate seat in his own state but would’ve beat Mr. Obama? I have years of intelligence and foreign policy experience that Sen. Santorum does not have, as far as I know. He would’ve been about as qualified as the man who sits there now. Other than the senate seat, what has he done? He was perhaps the weakest serious candidate of that cycle.
That is nothing like saying handling protests trained me to take on terrorists. It is saying that his handling of protesters showed the strength of character he has, that would also enable him to handle other adversity."
That's what Walker was getting at, though I do think he could have articulated it better. It's not something a candidate should say in an October primary debate, but it doesn't change much this far out.
Freepers are all emotion and Cruz pushes all the right buttons. I love him, too and wish him much success in the Senate, but Walker is the best choice for all the reasons you already know.
Freepers think only with their heart and not much else. Remember the Alan Keyes hysteria here. Even with evidence that he was a very loose cannon - great speeches with little real life possibility and then sadly turning into a loon, the hearts won out with the most outlandish and unrealistic hopes and wishes.
This should be interesting.
I supported Santorum in 2012 because he was a social conservative in a field that desperately needed one. Walker has yet to prove his bona fides, especially on abortion.
Items like this show that despite a good record as governor of a medium-sized state, Walker isn't ready for prime time ... yet.
How did Santorum enter the conversation?
