When I moved Upstate NY, I started a vegetable garden. I was SHOCKED at how a home grown red cabbage tasted, or radishes! They had a bite that could bring tears to your eyes. The store stuff is so bland!
Peaches were small but oh so juicy and sweet!
I also have wild rose bushes. They smell fantastic. I wish their season lasted longer.

Why do you say tasteless?
Look at tomatoes. We market the pretty ones but they are almost tasteless.
Perhaps this is a way to get better tasting apples and tomatoes to our table.

Hippy Whole Foods will have your overpriced apples.
There have always been roses that looked good and had little to no scent.
