Dr. Ben Carson, a likely 2016 GOP presidential contenders, believes there should be no “philosophical” or “religious” exemptions for vaccinations. “Although I strongly believe in individual rights and the rights of parents to raise their children as they see fit, I also recognize that public health and public safety are extremely important in our society,” Carson told The Hill.

I dont think so. Obama is in the White House because the Dems fielded a winning candidate. And the pubbies fielded yet another anointed loser.

I’m confused. Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Vaccines are suppose to prevent the disease, so the only ones who would get ill are those who refuse vaccines and maybe those who need a booster. What’s the problem?

There are thousands, if not millions of people who CANNOT take the injections because of immunological deficiencies, age, allergies, whatever...the selfish jackasses that refuse to consider everyone else when making their asinine decisions should be ostracized from society. There is no good reason for their obstinance other than stupidity.

I know that Carson knows the following: Not all patients are the same. One patient may have immunodeficient disease, AIDS, treatment for cancer, or even severe nutritional deficiency, such that they cannot muster an appropriate immune response, thus rendering the patient unable to manufacture immunoglobulins or an amnestic response to the antigen. Now, I realize Carson was not in a venue to give a lecture on the antigen-antibody reaction to an unsophisticated audience on this subject. However, the broad brush is not Carsons tool of choice.

We know that the 'flu' antigen (virus particle) changes each fall season and as many times as not the CDC gets the type of influenza virus wrong. Who, then, according to Judge Napolitano's theory, will be held responsible for being the "proximate cause" of someone contracting the flu at a school? Well the CDC, or politicians be personally, criminally, and civilly be held responsible for their decision? Obviously not. What about the TB which now invades our country from the south and preteens are coming down with active Tuberculosis? That was 'essentially' eradicated prior to the year 2000, except in alcoholic, druggies, and those with nutritionally related diseases. And that 1;5000 child who contracts encephalitis from a routine Rubella injection which renders them paralyzed for life or outright kills them . Those are real numbers accepted by the CDC as an appropriate risk/reward ratio? Each year 18,000 people in this country die from influenza. Where is the governmental compunction? Now we are told on these inane news reports that the government 'owns' the children . I was taught in medical school that the government takes control of the corpse in such cases, but does not own the body.

And it was just a few years ago that we had dozen of people who came down with fungal encephalitis, killing some, paralyzing others, when during the manufacturing the quality controls were not held to and ruined some live. I am a Texas, I like Perry, though I do not think he is presidential timber. But he was dead wrong siding with Merck on the Guardicil issue. We wills be dealing with the fallout of the Herpes vaccine for several decades. Human frailty.

Settled Science? Pure malarkey. Not in science is ever settled. We keep learning more about it. We keep trying to make it better. And for 'scientists', whatever that is, to not stand up and scream to shut up and stop the discount is unforgivable.

So much to say, So little time to say it.

Nope, Romney would have been a breath of fresh air in this stagnant environment. Te Republicans lost because there are certain people (no names mentioned) who decided that because there was no halo over his head, or that he was one of those [mormans] (you know who they are)...or that they disagreed with him on whatever single point that they may have decided on...sat at home and didn't vote, or voted symbolically for some non-electable third party..

CONGRATULATIONS...you made your point, Obama thanks you, the Democrats thank you, and the nation suffers..PATHETIC

I already spent a chunk of change helping Governor Walker win his re-election bid. Money is tight and Carson is unworthy. My veins, and what goes into them, is my business.

“you say he is a brilliant person regarding medical concerns...and then say he is too stupid to be a plitician.....”

Please re-read my post: Where did I say either of those things? I said he had been a brilliant surgeon, but has his head up his own rectum re: the 2nd Amendment, and that for me, was enough to disregard him as a Presidential prospect...That’s my opinion...And nowhere did I mention Democrats or another 4 years of them...

You like Dr. Ben? Knock yourself out and support him...Me? No thanks...We have other options that aren’t confused about the Bill of Rights and aren’t Hillary...

OR would your rather put flowers on their little graves for the next 40 years because they died of a preventable epidemic?

So it's OK to force people to use vaccines made from aborted fetal tissue as long as it saves an epidemic?

And what about letting illegal aliens in without vaccinations?

When they develop a vaccine that can sterilize a human. Can the government force it on us because there are too many humans producing carbon dioxide?

How do the Amish survive? How does the 3rd world even have any children left? This is such a non-issue. It's really about making people let the government force them to do things. It's all about control. How do I know? Because for millions of years humans existed without any medical technology what so ever and became the dominant species on the planet.

You are letting your fear cause you to give up freedom.

“Certain communicable diseases have been largely eradicated by immunization policies in this country and we should not allow those diseases to return by foregoing safe immunization programs, for philosophical, religious or other reasons when we have the means to eradicate them.”

(To be fair, he did also imply there could be extenuating circumstances that can be considered (from another article).)

Nanny State PING!

We really should still be immunizing for smallpox.

(But . . . but . . . it’s been eradicated worldwide! Even though it’s microscopic in size, this must be true!)

Even Benjamin Franklin regretted until the end of his life not having his son vaccinated for smallpox and who later died of the same.

Even the most intelligent, best-informed of parents will make choices that they themselves regret.

It goes with the territory.

Exactly how much government should require of them is still being worked out.

Certain collective goods like border security can't be attained unless there are restraints on individual goods like freedom of movement.

In this life, there is always going to be tension between individual rights and the (hopefully very few) restraints on them that are needed for the good of the Republic.

This guy is nothing but a prop. The GOPe’S version OF OBOLA.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3161644/posts

And another;http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3234379/posts

Carson found himself crossways with gun rights supporters last week when he suggested that cops should be trained to shoot for the legs instead of center mass i.e. the torso of the body. Carson’s comments once against highlight the fact that he’s not well versed or thought out on issues relating to firearms and law enforcement.

Sounds like those lunatics out in Ferguson, freaking out about law enforcement. IDIOT.

Good then why are you for Medical Tyranny? If you are vaccinated why do you care??? You are letting the State become the doctor.

Remember this was NEVER an issue before the open borders. Furthermore, this is coming from the same government that ignored Ebola and the open borders. Why all of a sudden do they care.

Let's set the record straight. More people have died from the Vaccine (than from the actual measles.

Finally, the CDC’s own numbers say your chances of dying from the measles, without the vaccine, is 0.003

Those pictures are a misrepresentation, RDdB. They are pictures of "polio" and "smallpox" victims. Many here, including myself, support vaccinations against high mortality diseases when administered at appropriate ages. What we refute, and emphatically so, is the notion that *any* vaccine can be mandated upon us by the government "for our own good" or "for the good of others". Vaccinations with poor track records for non-lethal diseases are more a "tax" than a "benefit". They are nothing more than "big business" cozying up to government, and come with their own risks of complications detrimental to our health. No one has died of measles in a decade, but the measles vaccine has killed many in the same time frame.
