Dr. Ben Carson, a likely 2016 GOP presidential contenders, believes there should be no “philosophical” or “religious” exemptions for vaccinations. “Although I strongly believe in individual rights and the rights of parents to raise their children as they see fit, I also recognize that public health and public safety are extremely important in our society,” Carson told The Hill.

“After all, if the government can make you buy insurance, what limit is there to its power?”

I agree. I’m old enough to remember what a free country looked and felt like. It was a grand feeling that those of my generation took too much for granted. We coddled our children and made little milk toasts of them. We neglected to teach them that freedom needs constant vigilance to protect. In so doing, we created generations of people who would be scared witless if actual freedom, such as early generations knew, should suddenly befall them. The total responsibility for their own well being and quality of life would be much more than they could handle I’m afraid. People and nations have a way of getting what they wish for. There will soon be no responsibility required in America, only obedience to the all controlling government and that will suit most folks just fine.

“Dr. Ben Carson should move to North Korea.”

Or Mississippi. They don’t allow religious or philisophical exemptions. Medical only.

“Vaccines are suppose to prevent the disease, so the only ones who would get ill are those who refuse vaccines and maybe those who need a booster. What’s the problem?”

No vaccines are 100% effective. Nothing is. There is a risk of getting measles or whatever, even if you’re vaccinated.

And some people with other medical issues or compromised immune systems can’t get the vaccines. Or maybe they aren’t old enough.

If Dr. Carson were serious, he should’ve run for HOR or US Senate in this last election/

Agree. Calling out 0bola at the Presidents Breakfast is not governing experience. Let him cut his political teeth in the House or Senate.

So incredibly vapid

Or there may be other reasons you consider it a risk to you. The point is, you shouldn't have to explain yourself to some government dweeb.

I like Carson but he isn't presidential material.

Then you’re also old enough to remember the polio vaccines sugar cubes we all lined up for

And given the plethora of children dead and crippled and iron lungs etc we were all ecstatic to get the relief

There are two sides to the vaccines debate

I support them but I’m ambivalent about implantation

Ambivalent doesn’t mean apathetic....pity how it’s such a misused word

You cannot refuse an injection by a third party?

He's on the slippery slope leading to government mandated euthansia.

Not all vaccines have the same value.

And some are downright dangerous (e.g. the rotavirus vaccine circa 1999).

No.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

As specified in the First Amendment, religious objections to vaccination are sufficient to override a public health desire to reduce the spread of non-fatal diseases. You cannot vaccinate a child from Measles, or Chicken Pox just for an abstract public benefit. I like Dr. Carson, but he doesn't understand the importance of the Constitution as written. It takes an extremely strong public threat to override even the least prominent phrase of the Constitution. The Bill or Rights is not a suicide pact, but it is very close to that absolute.

Vaccines is the new Global Warming rubbish.

Yeah, people in the U.S. are falling like flys from small pox, and polio just killed another 10,000 while putting another 5,000 in iron lungs, and your kids can't go to the local park because your neighborhood has been quarantined, and you know how many, just on your block alone , are hacking and wheezing from whooping cough, and as for diptheria, well we all know how many died from that just yesterday....yup, just stay away from all those evil vaccines and we'll live forever....

sounds like something from the 1700's.....PATHETIC
