It would not be illegal for you to go over to Israel to support Netanyahu in his re-election, and neither is it illegal for another person to go over there to offer their support in defeating Netanyahu.
Who’s paying for this? The article mentions Google, the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program and the United States State Department. The US State Department would be the US taxpayer. Republicans in the House and Senate don’t appear to be able to stop or cease funding anything.
