Washington (CNN)Mark it down as a rare win for House GOP moderates. After scrambling into the evening on Wednesday, House Republican leaders decided to scrap a vote on a controversial anti-abortion measure scheduled to coincide with an annual gathering of anti-abortion advocates on Thursday because they couldn't round up enough support.

They STILL don't get it. There are non-negotiable items for social conservatives and one of them is abortion.

"Mark it down as a rare win for House GOP moderates."

Mark it down as yet another all-too-common win for House GOP moderates, and yet another defeat for those whose sweet faces we will never see in this life.

Nice going, GOP. Murderers.

Let’s see: Republicans cave. Yup. That is republicans. RINOs cave. Yup, that’s RINOs. And even republican conservatives cave, yup, another one. Straight ticket vote for republicans, cave, cave, cave, cave, cave, cave . . . . . . always the same for the Worthless As Dog Crap Republicans. Damn, I wish there was truly a third party called the Conservative Party of True Patriotic Americans.

There are some patriots in Congress fighting the good fight, such as senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. But then look at how they get treated by members of their own party!

House GOP Leaders Cave ....

I don’t know how many times I’ve read that headline, regardless of the topic.

I’m bloody sick of it.

True. And talk about explosive and misleading headlines. This one wins a Chicken Dinner. Yes, the Repugs chickened out and failed again. But they did choose to walk away from a lost battle as they instead focus on banning tas dollars to pay for abortions.

The Gop is really showing themselves this week.

True. In addition to this hot mess, the Senate also voted 98-1 yesterday in favor of an amendment stating that “Climate Change is not a Hoax”.

It’s tough to cave on principles when you have none.

The rebellion was initially headed up by a group of female House Republicans that pointed out the vote could threaten the party's efforts to reach out to women and young people.

The "Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act," is a bill banning so called "late-term abortions" -- those involving procedures for women who are beyond 20 weeks into their pregnancy. Several House GOP women protested language in the bill that requires those women who seek an exception to the ban because they were raped have to back up their claim with a police report.

Shame on the people who were arguing against this which would prevent babies from being torn apart while alive in their mothers womb.
I thought it was appropriate that one of the women was named slaughter.

To the Republican women who used that bullshit excuse, you should take a long hard look inside yourselves to see what's broken.
Is it ever really alright to tear a leg off a living being?
Does it hurt the baby less to be ripped apart alive just because it's a product of rape?
Shame on you.

I always believed that God gave women the blessing of becoming pregnant, because he thought we would protect the children and keep them safe (to the best of our ability) until they were no longer helpless.

Go ahead and look at your children.
Explain this to them, and tell them it's okay...

We’re winning and I don’t know why FReepers cannot see that. We’ve made enormous strides against the natural flow of power and money

Seriously? Strides like this?

The devil, accepted by humanity, has perverted the protective impulse (of both women and men) into a selfish angle.

Ultimately the right approach is not to be railing at people but to ask them where their heart went.

I know there are many ways to present stats on this topic and I appreciate your thoughtful input. Here are a couple of previous FR threads on the stats of minority abortions...

GOP will not:
-overturn obamacare
-stop executive order on amnesty

I didn’t leave the GOP - they left me.

“Agree...the Dems seem PERFECTLY HAPPY to be wiping out generation after generation of their voters. It is tempting not to get in their way. By some estimates there would be 50% more blacks today if they hadn’t been aborted. Political races in the South would be much closer if they let those kids live (possibly even Baby Fat could have been re-elected)...and the Republicans would probably be either totally shot as a party, or at least neutered.”

I wonder what our country would currently be like if this had not been allowed to happen over the last 40 years. What would we look like? Demographically? Politically? Legally? Socially? What would be different in the lives of modern Americans? How would we be better or worse off?

“I no longer buy into the illusion that our nation will recover from this downward spiral. Elections won’t fix this.”

Ironically, our only hope is the financial collapse that Obama is trying to bring about via Cloward-Pivan. Then we can rebuild from the ashes.

“No, they need to get 218 CONSERVATIVES in office. We’re getting very close, but we’re not quite there...even with 247 Republicans.”

Oh, thank you! Please reiterate again and again! Another method would be to figuratively shout and stomp the majority we have into being more Conservative.

I absolutely agree with you, but if they WOULD pass a 20 week abortion ban with rape/incest exceptions, then they should put the exceptions in and pass the bill as at least one step in the right direction, instead of this giant step in the wrong direction.
