Did pigs sprout wings while I was at work today? I agree with this wholeheartedly!

Knowing the character of the person involved, and knowing the source of this news (Washington comPost), I'm thinking there is more involved. I.e., Eric Holder bans local police from seizing assets so the Federal Gestapo can get first dibs.

Yeppers. Holder and state/federal goons are still gonna grab your cash without due process. They just ain’t gonna share it with the locals.

Won’t work... Take away the goodies from the locals and it will stop.

This a good thing. In Wisconsin there is a formula on how seized property is distributed among various units of government. If a drug arrest is made under Federal Law the Arresting Department gets to keep the assets. We find many Police Departments are using the Federal law so they can keep the spoils.

Even if that is the case, the local PDs will likely be less willing to want to work with the Feds b/c of this.

maybe so but I didn’t read it that way. States can’t use federal law to seize certain assets. They can still seize cars carrying drugs under state laws.

Too many of “his people” are getting caught up in the forfeiture property grabs is my guess.
