Republican lawmakers closed ranks Sunday behind the No. 3 House GOP leader, Steve Scalise, as the party aimed to move past the controversy over his speech 12 years ago to a white supremacist group.
Scalise has said the speech was a mistake he now regrets, and party leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, have backed him.
Several incoming rank-and-file lawmakers added their support Sunday, including Utahs Mia Love, the first black female Republican elected to the House.

How soon the Dems forget the leader they had for years......Sheets Byrd.
Amazing how Democrats love to harp on things that happened many years ago, but dismiss real scandals like Benghazi with “Dude, that was two years ago!”
> his speech 12 years ago to a white supremacist group.
What? Wasn’t this disproven? Thought it took place in a common room where a few EURO members happened to remain from a previous event.
“Wasnt this disproven?”
Apparently the GUY organizing the racist meeting was the one organizing the meeting that Scalise spoke to hours earlier. So, guilt by association.
GOP, RIP.
A guy who he was also good friends with BTW.
Actually, I think the EURO members had come in early. Their event followed the one that Scalise spoke at.
But, as someone has posted, the same guy apparently organized all of the events.
Remind the RTs of this when Boehner comes begging for their Speakership votes!
Normally I might be inclined to defend some GOP guy from this kind of guilt-by-association scenario. But Boehner and his lieutenants? These are the guys that have been purging conservatives from committees, and just backstabbed us all by fully funding Obama’s lawless amnesty and Obamacare for the complete fiscal year. To hell with them! I have about the same level of disgust for them as I do for Pelosi, owing to their actions.
Not to mention, what about the GOP-E scumbags who played a (phony) race-card to smear McDaniel in Mississippi? These are the same people all now rushing to defend Boehner and Scalise. I hope they all get cut to shreds on this issue, and I don’t care who does the shredding. If the GOP as a whole gets a black-eye due to this, well I don’t give a damn about that, either. It’s the Party’s own fault to begin with for having such corrupt slimeballs in leadership positions.
Boehner never had our back, so we won’t have his.
Why are many defending Scalise and Boehner???
Lord knows if this were Todd Akin or Sarah Palin or Christine O’Donnell or Chris McDaniel the GOPe would be riding them out of town on a rail.
Boehner and Scalise are bigger threats to Conservatism and the Constitution than Obama and the Democrats will ever be. It is high time people get some clarity. Here is a great chance to really stick it to the GOPe and people instead focus on the so called double standard concerning Democrats and Sharpton and Byrd.
Yup, Washington Post disproved it last week. Article's somewhere here on FR...
Remember that primary race in Mississippi?
Remember the RINOs going after illegal black cross over votes to steal the election?
We should pick out the RINOs who are backing Boehner’s boy and Scalise and serve them the same damn dish in the next primary cycle!
Dhimmicrat Lawmakers back all those Congressmen/Senators/_residents who support Al Sharpton.....I see little difference?
it was disproven. it’s a fake story. but the liberal media is still lying. can’t scalise or Republicans sue these liberal media jackals?
The Grand Keagle Robert Byrd.
The media love fake stories, especially about people like Michael Brown of Ferguson MO.
Wait, I thought it was shown Scalise did not speak to a White Supremacist group.
This is another “hands up, don’t shoot” media lie.
