GOP lawmakers preparing changes to immigration system (the smell of betrayal is in the air)
Fox News ^ | December 27, 2014

Interest in reforming the immigration law remains high as Republican lawmakers prepare bills that would make changes to the current system.

President Obama received harsh criticism after proposing an executive action steering clear from congressional approval to halt deportation for nearly four million immigrants. However, Republicans remain up to the task to enact their own proposals into the bill.

Every time there’s negative information about the Republican Party, someone like you always comes around to post the same sarcastic comments about voting Republican. I’m a FReeper going on about 10 years now, and I can’t remember anyone posting that we should keep voting for the RINOs no matter what they do.

The Republican Party’s political situation is obviously far more complex than posters like you let on. For one thing, you ignore the war that’s currently being waged within the GOP, and there are some very good conservative Republicans. People are trying to elect more conservatives of course, but we have to beat the Chamber of Commerce owned RINOs and then the Democrats in that order.

I don’t know of any FReeper who adores the RINO faction. If so, they probably wouldn’t last long here. The RINOs are an enemy of a slightly different sort but almost as bad as the Democrats. We conservatives want to defeat both, but the real issue is how to do that.

I don’t see very many people posting CONSTRUCTIVE comments about how we conservatives can actually win political power and return to constitutional governance. Refusing to vote is hardly the answer, and going third party seems foolish when we can’t muster even enough political power, i.e. votes, to reform the GOP even though conservatives are likely its biggest faction.

If people are serious about making things better, then they have to start working harder to nominate good conservatives who can ultimately win general elections. The most viable route to do that is likely (still) through the Republican Party.

In 2016 the GOPe are going to see plenty of turned backs.

More of them need to be Cantor’ed. Cantor got the boot because of his position on amnesty. Others need to join him.

Well, obviously you missed all those ABO posts from 2012, and then again during this last election cycle.

No. Those posts in 2012 and 2014 were more nuanced than simply “vote RINO no matter what.” I already had one big war of words on this before the election and see no reason to repeat it. However, the gist of it was that we should work to get the best politicians we can at each stage of the election process, AND continue fighting after the election even if we must elect the best of the worst in a given election. So, yeah. Some bad RINOs were elected to defeat even worse Democrats, but who said we should cooperate with them now or reelect them again later? No. The battle isn’t just one election. It’s ongoing.

I totally understand the disgust towards the Republican Party in general, but there are good Republicans. Virtually every Democrat is absolutely, diametrically opposed to us, but the Republicans are with us (conservatives) to varying degrees. Those who aren’t doing what we want need to be opposed and hopefully tossed out at the next opportunity. The only way to do that is to stay involved and do the hard work to get good candidates nominated, so we aren’t faced with such crappy choices in the general elections.

You’ve hit on a sore subject here...

This site is FULL of “burn it down” “conservatives”. This is a great place to pi$$ and moan about how crappy the Uniparty is but that’s where it ends... I’m SURE many are working hard in their LOCAL governments to make the changes necessary to move the GOP back in a conservative direction... It’s damn HARD WORK... but hey... it’s easier to come here and complain...

No one with a brain advocates voting R at all costs... no one with a brain advocates a 3rd party (How’s that Libertarian thing working out?)...

It’s going to take 10 to 20 YEARS to move it back in the right direction...

A lot better than wasting a vote for a 3rd party “candidate” or sitting at home....

Bullshit. There are literally 5 that are with us and they better get out of that evil party before they lose whats left of our goodwill.

If you support evil, you are evil. Simple math.

2006 was the first year of the tea party. It’s been 8 years... There are more R’s in the house than in a lifetime and 58 R’s in the Senate... I call that a start...

Now we can go about the business of upgrading...

I’m sure your way is much better... Why not enlighten us with your solutions...

I’m not trying to get you to do anything...

I see you skipped right over the request for solutions... As I suspected, it’s easier to come here and bitch and tell us about your voting patterns (or lack thereof)...

First get rid of the RATs....then get rid of the RINOs. Is that somehow complicated?

Hilarious...

The newly elected congress isn’t even seated yet. You don’t REALLY know what’s actually going to happen now do you, chicken little?

Thanks for your comic relief... I see that we can’t have a rational conversation since you are reactionary based on “reports”...

Come back after there is legislation and votes to support your assertions that you’ve been stabbed in the back...

And it`s too easy for you to assume that your party OWNS my vote, IT DOES NOT! It`s too easy for you to assume I`m a republiCrat, I AM NOT! As an individual I`ll vote as I damn well please and if you don`t like it take it up with my complaints manager, Hell-and-wait! You know the rest of that one!
