Senator Ron Johnson (WI) released the following statement regarding his vote on S. 744, the Immigration Reform Bill:
"America is a compassionate society, and no one wants to separate families by deporting moms and dads or husbands and wives. As a result, I support immigration reform and a path to legal status for people whose only crime was to enter the country illegally when they came here to work. I also recognize that our current immigration laws are not working not for American workers, not for employers, and not for immigrants who want to come to America and play by the rules.

Ron voted against Cruz's point of order.
Then deport them all together, to keep the family intact.
Ah.. you he means illegal is whatever Holder says is illegal..
AnD legal is whatever he deems as legal?..
Deport them all, problem solved
Congress is full of IDIOTS from both, major political parties, and THAT’S the ongoing problem! They are accepting too many pieces of unconstitutional legislation!
Hes right about that.
This idiocy of Birthright Citizenship is insane and needs to be corrected.
It has caused all kinds of problems; anchor babies and this problem he talks about splitting up families and many others.
It was a stupid court decision and needs to be remedied.
How can an illegal immigrant mother dispense US citizenship on her child just by being in the US when she gives birth? The Fourteenth Amendment doesnt say that and to read it that way is sophistry.
What a tool.
“... legal status for people whose only crime was to enter the country illegally ...”
Um, that would not be a problem if it were only a few people doing this but NOW IT HAS GROWN TO 30 MILLION entering the country illegally, with many millions more on the way!
“.......immigrants who want to come to America and play by the rules.”....
First of all the can come to America but LEGALLY, not by sneaking in. THAT would be considered “playing by the rules”.
Bingo! These so-called compassionate people don’t seem to care one iota about the homes that are broken when one or both parents are incarcerated. Some maybe for doing drugs - and Johnson has compassion on those whose only crime was entering our country illegally? Seems he has misplaced compassion - or maybe it’s because he is bought off by the Chamber of Corruption bunch.
I second the motion.
