It's been six months since a prisoner swap led to the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
The Army's investigation into the circumstances under which the Hailey native left his Afghanistan base wrapped up in October, yet no new information has been released.
Bergdahl's fellow soldiers say he deserted the base, which is a crime under military law.
A military defense councilman speculated Wednesday that the delay could mean no charges will be filed.
The question remains a mystery. What events led up to the disappearance of Bergdahl and his capture by the Taliban in 2009? He was held captive for five years.
Military officials will determine whether or not wrong doing occurred, and if those actions warrant punishment.
Brian Bouffard, a criminal and military defense councilman, feels as though Bergdahl played an active role in his disappearance.
"It seems clear that, at the least, an unauthorized absence or an awol occurred," Bouffard said.
Bouffard points out how rare this case is. It's been highly publicized for a number of reasons, he says.
Bouffard cites the fact that five potentially dangerous prisoners were released in exchange for Bergdahl's safe return and that Bergdahl could have compromised, at the least, the base he was stationed at.
"There are a lot of moving parts in this case other than Sgt. Bergdahl himself. There are the other interests of the other service members who went out looking for this guy and who were injured and, in some cases, killed," Bouffard said. "Their families, in my opinion, deserve to know the truth and to know what happened."
Despite that, Bouffard says the government is not actually required to provide the public with an update.

The most transparent administration in history...../s
Then when the complainers begin to say “You don't know that”, you can answer by saying that he has to be guilty or the report would have been released.
I am sick to death of the lying and obfuscation.
What is a “military defense councilman “?
Do we really need it? We know what happened. One traitor to this country saved another traitor to this country.
Just as I have always expected.. there will be no charges filed because no charges will be allowed to be filed. The fix was in on the Bergdahl matter from the start.
They must not be good.
We traded five Taliban generals for a traitor private.
What do you say about your coach and your quarterback, if they keep punting on 1st down, and throwing interceptions on purpose?
That is a waste of a perfectly good '/s'!
No news is less additionally depressing news, so I’m happier since nothing can be done about it now and maybe our enemy can’t learn as much from it if we don’t publish it.
What a mess we have become.
Apparently it damages the Marxists this time.
Pray America is waking
It sure is taking a long time for the WH to phony up a story for their islamic, traitor poster boy.
I think when his platoon members went public it took the steam out of the wh cover story.
Congress?
This traitor is home free, he will never be prosecuted. They Army is an unmitigated disaster now in most areas.
“What do you say about your coach and your quarterback, if they keep punting on 1st down, and throwing interceptions on purpose?”
“Al-tarquaa” and “Kitman”?
