Rudy Giuliani: 'There was no racism in this case'
The Week ^ | 12/4 | The Week

Posted on 12/04/2014 10:21:51 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said in a Fox & Friends interview on Thursday that "there was no racism" in the case of Eric Garner. He also stated that he agreed with the grand jury's decision, saying they "reached a verdict they felt was right."

"There was no racism in this case," Guiliani said. "There was no indication that if this man was a white man of the same size resisting arrest, the same thing would happen."

Giuliani also criticized New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for inciting the protests over the Garner decision. He mentioned De Blasio's statements about teaching his mixed-race son to handle confrontations with police, adding that "to train young black men how to avoid being killed in this city... you should spent 90 percent of your time talking about how they're actually going to get killed, which is by another black."

Rudy Tooty is still my hero. As America’s mayor in New York City on 9/11.

Naturally he was a flop as a presidential contender in 2008, but - like here - he has his very good points.

I agree with Rudy that racism wasn’t a factor, but why use the choke hold? I know the guy was big, but he had no weapon and the police seemed to have overwhelming numbers.

There was no indication that if this man was a white man of the same size resisting arrest, the same thing would happen.

Missed lunch today, but that statement seems contrary to his conclusion.

Heard Hannity in the background the other day arguing that the video shows a headlock was used rather than the media's dreaded (illegal?) chokehold. If true, that alone would seem to justify a GJ no bill. I'm not sure with a chokehold he could even say, "I can't breathe."

Brown/Garner are a diversion to keep black people from knowing hispanics are taking their homes and jobs. The Obummer regime version of Vaseline.

Always a problem on the write-in ballot

We have a democrat Federal administration. We have a city and state with a democrat administration. This is a problem of their making.

I don't know if the grand jury made the right decision or not here. I have few facts compared to them. I do know that this could be a bad decision simply because the police get a gigantic benefit of the doubt, regardless of whether they erred. To me, it seems like they acted very quickly in a physical way before really giving the suspect a chance to think about his actions. That said, I have no idea the history with this individual nor the climate in that neighborhood with hostile actions taken against officers.

I had the same impression. I didn't see any weapons or attempt to hurt the officer, just a refusal to fully cooperate. Then when the police had over whelming numbers why use a choke hold?

Police are increasingly acting like our POTUS, tyrants.

He's right. I can easily believe that the police would use a deadly choke-hold on an unarmed white person too.

Seriously, the issue is the choke-hold and killing the guy, not the banal racism issue some damn fools in the media are talking about when discussing this story.

Burn down a city in Missouri, murder people in the street because they’re white, incite riots, physically assault other rioters — all okay.

Right. I think there was zero racism involved. I think we may have an over-aggressive cop, but no racism.

He’s right. It had nothing to do with race. It had to do with a fat, out of shape guy unable to survive a brain dead cop’s choke hold.
