Around 200 students gathered on the Sundial on Monday night following the announcement in Ferguson, Missouri, that a grand jury decided police officer Darren Wilson will not be charged in the death of Michael Brown.
The gathering was one of many that erupted across New York City on Monday night, though it was smaller and quieter than the ones that eventually occupied the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Robert F. Kennedy bridges.
Were here in solidarity with Ferguson. Were here in memory of Michael Brownin solidarity with Marissa Alexander. Were here in memory of Tamar Rice, Asha Rosa, CC 16 and a member of Students Against Mass Incarceration, said at the speakout. Its also a call to action.
The two-hour gathering was less of a rally and more of a vigil as organizers lit candles and shared poems, articles, and songs before opening the event to attendees and allowing them to share stories.
Students expressed sadness, fear, and frustrationsome tearing up or shakingand many voiced concern for the safety of African-American men and boys in the face of police brutality.
Upon hearing that there will be no indictment, I am filled with sadness and anger. ... And I can tell that you feel the same way. Im looking at your faces, Damon Xavier, CC 17 and political chair of the Black Students Organization, said. Dont let this be the last time you think about police brutality.
Xavier spoke at the stream of people who walked past the gathering on College Walk.

Fact: A Black Person is killed extra judiciously in the US every 28 hours.
Fact: A Black person was just sentenced to 35 years for killing a DOG but Darren Wilson's trash ass couldn't get INDICTED
Fact: The Grand Jury did something most grand juries never do, FAILED to INDICT
Fact: There was probable cause. There was probable cause. There was probable cause.
Fact: A Black person is killed extra judiciously in the US every 28 hours. Some of the blood record takes place a few blocks north.
Fact: Race matters. It is not white people being killed every 28 hours. Most white people with guns make it out alive.
Fact: Racism is real. It's your people who are perpetuating it through systems and sh*t like this.
Fact: Black people have to live their lives in inherent fear of the system because it's the same system that enslaved.
Fact: Last night was a place of righteous anger and rage. We are students here who have to bear the weight of seeing our brothers and sisters never live to see the years we've been blessed to see EVERY DAY!!
Fact: We are still rage-full. Watch your f**king mouth.
Fact: All of you anonymous Darren Wilson supports need to die and be left to bleed like they left Mike Brown.
These young skulls full of mush really need to concentrate on learning something, getting a job and then moving the hell out of their parents’ basements. Idiots. They all want to get into the act and end up overheating their “smart” phones being a bunch of Twits.
That idiot wouldn’t know a fact if it jumped up and kicked her in her fat ass. She should take her ass to a country not made up of the white man’s laws.
Amazing, I can actually see the synapses short circuit in the writing.
If there was any REAL justice, the store owner would have blown his head off.
I no longer care what the following people say, ever.
Students
Obama
Holder
Hairy Reid
Pelosi
Lindsey Graham
J. McCain
Schumer
Rangel
Sharpton
Clintons
...for starters.
I've made that point on other sites. In most states, that storekeeper would have been completely justified in putting this dog down. "unarmed" or not
As long as it remained peaceful, they have the right. They may be misguided, but that does not revoke their right to peaceably assemble.
They had a protest in Ann Arbor Michigan tonight as well. They’ve apparently already dispersed.
Phoenix had two people show up for the big Brownout in Phoenix last night. A mother and her son. The “media” interviewed them anyway.
Easily led fool, lacking any critical thinking skills.
Agree but maybe not in that particular order.
Fact: Shondrea is an idiot.
“...in solidarity...”
When you see that phrase start looking for the communist organizers.
That “is” a nice list for starters but unfortunately there’s not enough space or time to complete it!
I wonder how many were there just to get out of school.
Absolutely, he was clearly threatening him, he just robbed the store so this store owner has no idea what is coming next, a knife, a gun. Absolutely justified self defense if this store owner pulled out a gun and shot him. Too many people get killed because they do not take action when they are threatened. Happens every single day, there are countless examples of it on Youtube, it will happen tonight, tomorrow, the next day and the next because people are taught to be victims, and liberals will riot, loot and burn things down if you refuse to be one.
