How Conservatives Can Attack Obama’s Immigration Plan Without Alienating Hispanics
Daily Signal ^ | 11/23/14 | Mike Gonzalez

Posted on 11/23/2014 1:38:39 PM PST by SoFloFreeper

....it’s crucial for conservatives to do two things that may seem contradictory but are in fact complementary. The first is to fight executive amnesty through all means available. The second is to not allow the issue of illegal immigration to control the Right’s message to Hispanic Americans....

it should not be hard to fight executive action. There are upward of five videos of the president himself telling crowds (mostly Hispanic, in fact) that it would be illegal for him to act on his own....

Conservatives of all parties must remain united and single-minded in action and message. They should not fall for the Obama trap of passing “a bill that I can sign.”

As conservatives fight adding these 5 million future voters, they must court the other 46 million Hispanics.

Enlisting these Hispanics...is key. It’s also easier than people think.

Consider Kansas as Exhibit A. The Hispanic vote there is certainly not negligible, and growing at 6 percent annually. A tax-cutting Gov. Sam Brownback won this Hispanic vote outright. The president is no doubt aware that the GOP did very well with Hispanics two weeks ago, and doubling down on illegal immigration may be his response.

The GOP improved vastly on Mitt Romney’s 2012 performance among Hispanics, winning 36 percent of the vote...If you exclude the non-competitive states of California (where Brown got 76 percent of the Hispanic vote) and New York (where 69 percent voted for Cuomo), the numbers get far better.

In the battleground states of Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada—the states that do count—the GOP did very well.

Does anyone besides me see the absolute absurdity of this?

God, lets not upset the Hispanics.

Whites? Who gives a rip? Screw them over face to face, no worries at all.

This used to cause me to wonder what the heck? And then it finally dawned on me. Our leaders are engineering the destruction of White America. They have decided they want the Hispanics to populate the nation and White people to simply die off or go elsewhere.

The strange thing is, some folks will read this and think me a racist for saying this so boldly. It will not dawn on them that I’m just describing what is going on. Our leaders are the ones actually doing it.

The argument against the eo should be the same regardless of the audience.

If we start tailoring rationale to fit the ethnicity of the listener we are screwed anyway. We have accepted the progressives view of v the world - no one has value except as a member of a group.

Why don't people get this?

Enforce border control and start calling out President Nieto of Mexico and the leaders of these Central American countries for allowing their nations to sink into economic and social hellholes, which causes their people to flee to America.

I agree we do need to start leaning on the countries illegals are fleeing from and I don’t mean leaning on them with barrels of cash.

How? By soliciting the support from the tens if not hundreds of thousands of legal Hispanic immigrants who are NOT HAPPY with the illegals getting a pass on breaking the law, going to the front of line and getting whatever they want because of maverick moron in the Half/White House.

. . . when the farm workers strike and their strike is successful, the employers go to Mexico and have unlimited, unrestricted use of illegal alien strikebreakers to break the strike. And, for over 30 years, the Immigration and Naturalization Service has looked the other way and assisted in the strikebreaking. I do not remember one single instance in 30 years where the Immigration Service has removed strikebreakers. . . .The employers use professional smugglers to recruit and transport human contraband across the Mexican border for the specific act of strikebreaking.

Enlisting these Hispanics...is key

Key to what?

Every 1% increase in the GOP White vote is worth a 7%-8% increase in the "Hispanic" vote. AND - increasing appeal to Whites is likely to further our principal goals of shrinking the government and restoring the Republic, while Hispandering is likely to do the reverse.

2016 = Go White, Go Right, or Go Home.

Why should we care what "Hispanics" think? I thought race/ethnicity was irrelevant?

Above all, conservatives must not confuse “Hispanics” with “illegal.”

How about Hispanics acknowledge that that the overwhelming majority of illegals, and for that matter immigrants in general, are Hispanic? Kind of hard to not talk about that aspect particularly when the invasion is completely altering our culture and landscape.

Any off-tone comment will be seized upon by the White House and played on Univision all night.

Univision? Why should we care about that? Oh that's right it is a TV network for the Not Single-Issue Illegal Immigration Voters(Hispanics)...

You just hope and pray that whites are not that stupid. Of course we allow for the Black & Hispanics caucuses(isn't that racial? and maybe stupid?)

Frankly, I would have done a Marshall Plan for Mexico and Latin America. Spending billions there in those nations for medical care, education, housing, and building up their local and national economies would have made much more sense. Now with the illegals flooding into this country we have to spend the money here to support them plus they compete with Americans for jobs which makes for a tough employment market and dwindling economic opportunities for everyone. Oh, what do I know? Those folks in Washington know way better than me, lol...

Legal immigrants understand very well the difference between legal and illegal.

And hispanic US citizens know it too. They want to see their cousins treated with dignity, but they understand legal versus illegal.

No one expects Mexico to open its borders and hand out residence visas to any Honduran or Guatemalan to wade the river. GOP just needs to have some confidence, and make the case. I’ve never had any trouble explaining a rational immigration policy to hispanic friends or immigrant friends or latin american friends. They all understand borders and the need for them. They want their fellow countrymen treated with respect; its quite possible to do that and still enforce the law.

It is necessary to understand, though, that Televisa and Univision are completely in the bag for the DNC and are not going to even attempt to be fair about this. They never fail to make it about race; endlessly they assure their viewers that anyone who is concerned about illegal immigration quite simply “hates the color brown”.

So it becomes important to find someone who is a least minimally charismatic, who is willing to boldly make the case for rational border and immigration policy and make it in Spanish for Univision viewers. That, and find alternate communications media for reaching Spanish speakers. Granted, citizens are supposed to be able to speak English and most do, but to make this argument credible to Spanish speakers it has to be made by someone they will recognize as one of their own... more than one of their own.

When Republicans are bold about what they believe they are actually more attractive to hispanic voters than when they are weasels; no one respects a weasel and certainly no one wants to become one of them.

...which is what this author, Gonzalez, seems to be saying.

What is distressing to me is to see the seemingly knee jerk reactions on this thread to assume that MARKETING A MESSAGE to different audiences is somehow changing the message.

Daily Signal is NOT run by a bunch of RINOs....this guy makes some sense here, and that is being missed by a whole lot of folks who like to think of themselves as conservative thinkers. :-(
