Grothman vacated his state senate seat to run for Congress (he won). Strobel is running for the State senate seat that Grothman vacated.

Oh, that's easy. So he can replace Petri in DC. But newly won? Previously, Grothman served in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 58th Assembly District from 1993 until 2005, served as the vice chair of the Assembly's Republican caucus from 1999 to 2004, and as Wisconsin Senator from the 20th district from 2005 to 2015, and Assistant Majority Leader of the Wisconsin Senate from 2011 to 2015.

This is his STATE SENATE seat. Grothman was just elected as US CONGRESSMAN. Grothman is going to Washington, DC.
