Fighting for her political life and effectively abandoned by the Democratic Party, Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu went on the attack against Rep. Bill Cassidy, the Republican congressman challenging her in next months runoff.
At a Thursday press conference in front of a Veterans Affairs medical facility, Landrieu tried to contrast her efforts to secure federal money for her state after Hurricane Katrina hit the state in September 2005 with Cassidys supposed failure to lift a finger.

Louisiana, and national, DemocRATS will embrace Katrina until the end of time to illustrate the heartlessness of Republicans toward minorities.
May each occasion end in a similar BURN.
She was busy looking for stolen loot from taxpayers while he was actually building something.
Has Maness officially endorsed Cassidy and if not, why not?
Landfill is an idiot
Maybe if you lived in Louisiana you would've known that.
Typical 'RAT mindset. Throw other people's money at a situation instead of actually rolling up your sleeves and doing something.
The stupidity is breathtaking.
But I distinctly remember that between Mary and the Obama look-alike that was running NOLA at the time, they made an absolute dog's dinner of the Katrina Emergency.
GW made a few mistakes, chief of which was not immediately declaring martial law and having the Mayor Ray Nagin and the Governor Mary Landrieu shot for their criminal malfeasance.
The inarticulate W should have also made it clear that in the immediate aftermath of any emergency, it is the LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS who have to know their business and perform up to pay grade.
Katrina? Google this:
The Underwater buses that were supposed to carry flooded-out residents of NOLA to safety, but which went unused because Mayor Nagin (now IIRC in prison) did not have any idea of the disaster plan. Neither did Mary. The MSM rallied 'round them and pilloried GW.
This would be one of those times where simply cutting and pasting the first few sentences of the article does not add any information to what we already saw in the title.
This would have been part of a good excerpt:
“Within hours of Landrieus broadside, Cassidy tweeted back that “Mary Landrieu wants to know where I was during Hurricane Katrina? Setting up a surge hospital for refugees.””
But she’s STILL going to get around 40% of the vote.

ABBOTT: Louisianas Paid Media Fail Completely On Landrieus Where Was Bill? Disaster
by Walter Abbott November 08
The big news yesterday in the blogosphere and on social media was Mary Landrieus epic fail with the rollout of her Where was Bill? runoff campaign theme. But if you depend upon what pundit C. B. Forgotston refers to as the Paid Media, you would never have known about it.
Heres what happened. After Tuesdays election, and Senate candidate Bill Cassidys tie vote with incumbent Mary Landrieu, the runoff campaign kicked off with Landrieu using the theme Where was Bill? Among the assertions Landrieu made was that Cassidey was AWOL after Katrina.
Speaking at a VA Medical Center construction site in New Orleans, Landrieu said:
This is the time for Bill Cassidy to stand up and talk about his own pitiful record. And when Louisiana needed disaster aid, I was there. Where was Bill? And when this hospital needed a champion to build, and rebuild literally out of the rubble of Katrina and Rita, where was Senator Landrieu? Standing here and fighting. Where was Bill?
See here the WWL-TV news story.
All the Paid Media outlets carried the Landrieu story the Gannetoids, The TP, The Advocate, all the TV stations. But when Cassidy responded to Landrieus rant, the Paid Media was nowhere to be found.
Heres what Cassidy replied via Twitter:
Mary Landrieu wants to know where I was during Hurricane Katrina? Setting up a surge hospital for refugees. #LASEN http://t.co/YUVH0HKUc5

Heres the story of Cassidys heroic post-hurricane efforts from a 2005 Money magazine article.
With a little help from a lot of friends, a doctor turned an abandoned K Mart into a field hospital for victims of Hurricane Katrina
By Ellen McGirt November 1, 2005
We had no way to predict what people coming out of New Orleans were going to need. My physician group didnt have emergency preparedness responsibilities, so we made a lot of this stuff up as we went along.
The old K Mart we were to use had been abandoned for about eight years. It was filthy. There was no electricity, no air conditioning and no windows.
We had doctors and nurses step up to design the facility. I asked my friend the insurance guy to be the volunteer coordinator because insurance guys always know everyone. Around 150 people from two churches showed up with mops and brooms to help clean. An electrician got the power up in 24 hours. We created four to five wards holding 30 cots each.
Trucks arrived with $5 million worth of medical supplies, but no packing lists were included. We had I.V. bags but no poles. We had cots but no crash cart. Our volunteers found EKG machines, printerssomeone even got a new Honda delivered. Physicians showed up from as far away as Iowa. By the time patients arrived, we had beds, lights, generators, computers and volunteers to play with children, provide transportation and reconnect families.
We saw fatigue, dehydration, emotional trauma and illnesses like diabetes and asthma made worse by the patients experience. The shelters wouldnt take newborns, so we took mamas and their babies. It was the most amazing thing. We never got the volume we braced for, but we were readyin 26 hours.
So far this morning, weve found only one sentence in a Times-Picayune story about Cassidys reply. And that one sentence is buried in the eighth paragraph.
But thats why we do what we do. After all, What isnt in the newspapers is often more newsworthy than what is.
There were also complaints that school buses should NOT be used to evacuate, because they were not good enough. No a/c, uncomfortable seats, etc.
She got there (Senate) because of the name (and because she was about 100lbs lighter and blonde).....
Today, she’s irrelevant. Looks gone, daddy’s name don’t mean crap, and she’s stupid to boot.
Tough combination to overcome.
Don’t write her off just yet.
Based on the non reporting of Cassidy’s record of what he was doing after Katrina, the media is still going to try to carry her over the finish line.
African-Americans in NOLA and throughout the state of Louisiana had best cast their votes against Obamabot, Democrat, Mary Landrieu, or, just choose to stay home and not vote on December 6, 2014.!!! Obama is a “Lame Duck” POTUS who has already thrown you American Blacks under the bus a number of times. Landrieu is dead in the water, Politically and will be politically slaughtered in the “special-run-off” election by Republican/Conservative, Cassidy!!!
You foolish folks are adrift at sea....placed there by your so-called leaders....starting with Obama, the CBC, The NAACP, The Obamabot, Democrat Party and, your greedy, self-centered, supposed, “church” leaders, etc.!!! Wake up...you have all, been had big time, and have gotten absolutely zero for supporting these political shysters and con men!!!
Vote for Cassidy or, just simp[ly stay home and do not vote....like millions of your fellow African-Americans did, wisely on election day, November 4, 2014!!! They get it!!! Obama Stinks!!! The handwriting is clearly on the wall for all to see.....either dump Obama and all your phoney leaders or continue to dump on yourselves!!! Your choice!!!
Word of that got out anyway. Twitter and Facebook was all over it yesterday.
I don’t think the media gives a swamp rat’s ass about Landfill. I remember when the runoff came in Georgia in 2008, Saxby Chambliss won by 15%.
