In a way, that could actually be true. If one is rigid and unyielding enough, the result could be a chastisement that one interprets as martyrdom and a vindication of one's original inflexibility.

But one problem with psychoanalysis at a distance is that what's in question is the amateur analyst's reading or interpretation, rather than what's actually in the consciousness of the person analyzed, so you run into all the problems of Freudianism (and then some), starting with the inability to prove or disprove one's interpretations.

He certainly deserves impeachment, but it is not the thing to do without a overwhelming evidence and broad support from Democrats. He will serve as a reminder every day he is office of what Democrats do, believe and support.

Find ways to stop his agenda. Watch him like a hawk and make his actions public. But resist the temptation. Much better to purge the radical leftists from the ranks of the bureaucracies and judgships. It will have a much more long-lasting impact.
