Most of the time I was in the Army (99%) I was unarmed. Soldiers don’t carry weapons around on a normal workday or even on parade, and when they do they’re almost always unloaded.
I just asked my husband what they did on his base, and he said yes they were armed and guns loaded, but he pointed out he was military police.
My husband told me they kept their weapons locked up most of the time on base. He served in Germany.
