In violation of debate rules agreed to by both political campaigns, the ideologically-fluid Charlie Crist had his podium modified with a foreign object in order to keep him more comfortable at the beginning of the Florida gubernatorial debate, causing a delay until both sides could come to a resolution.
The Scott campaign eventually acquiesced to Crist's "request" that the debate rules be changed in order for Crist's comfort. The Crist campaign, for their part, maintains that they always requested a modification to the rules - but it's a modification clearly unseen and not agreed to by the Scott campaign.

Apparently Scott is running a lousy campaign for Crist to be leading in the polls. That guy is a joke. Has Scott plastered that picture of Crist hugging Obama all over the State? And now, Crist wants to give FL a State Income Tax??? And he is likely going to be returning to the Governor’s mansion. Oh well..... just shows you how this nation is going to hell in a hand basket. Floridians will deserve what they get.
I read that Crist’s main support comes from immigrants who want a Medicaid expansion.

This is not a petty or minor detail. Florida is a hot humid place and the lighting system for the debate is very intense and hot.
Giving Crist a fan afforded him a major advantage not just in comfort but in cosmetics in the debate because Scott would have been sweating profusely like a pig while Crist would not have been.
in the 1960 Presidential debates Nixon did not put on makeup while Kennedy did so Nixon looked rough and sweaty while the makeup kept Kennedy looking cool.

The organizers flat should not have let the Crist team install the fan and allowing Crist to show up on the podium is beyond the pale.
The mods knew exactly what to do but did not do it.
Pull the fan off the podium before the debate as their pre determined rules required.
They never should have let Crist step up to the podium unless the fan was removed .
This is not a small, petty issue. The stage lights are intense and very hot.
Crist would have been comfortable and the fan would have kept him from sweating while Scott stewed and sweated .
Republicans ALWAYS get torpedoed and ambushed in these debates.

Don’t forget that a lot of people thought JFK won his debate with Nixon because the TV people put extra lights on Nixon, causing him to sweat, while JFK looked cool due to the way the TV networks set up the stage. This is not a small issue and is one of the reasons there are negotiations for these debates. The debate moderators should never allowed this.
I agree...Scott looked petty. The rules as I understood said no electronic devices. I would have thought that implied IT devices...wouldn’t have thought fan...but yes, that type of fan runs on electricity.
People get so stuck on optics that Scott lost the debate by not going onto stage. If Scott really thought Crist was not going to come out...why didn’t Scott come out on time and make Crist look the fool?

If his disciples are disillusioned with him, it is because they did not get the freebie they think they deserve.
The destruction they [Obama's] disciples and voters wreaked upon the Republic will never be undone. And yes I realize that at least 90% of those who claim to be Americans do not give a damn. Their motto is: As long as I get my freebie.
