I don’t know. Roberts is an awfully decrepit, out-of-touch, tired-blood, career politician (and it was more than exasperating that he wasn’t successfully primaried), but ‘unlike’ all of the other noxious and commonly-cited RINO’s, he seems pretty dependably anti-amnesty and is solid on social issues. Adding the factor of the Dems’ duplicitous effort pushing an “independent” candidate, it’s probably just enough to push me over in Roberts favor. Unless some Kansans can come up with some really egregious transgressions I don’t know about. Which I’m entirely open to hearing.
In essence, I don’t think Roberts is quite in the same rancid league as McConnell, Cochran, Graham, Alexander, and such. Those backstabbing bastards aren’t worth the powder to blow them up. Ditto for Cornyn in my own state, who will NOT be getting my vote this November.

Oh I agree there are worse. But he is what he is and situational ethics are what they are. If we keep excusing open rino crap at every level, we may just as well get behind Romney now and embrace our inner liberal. Why lie to ourselves about what we are? If we are willing to bend over lets just admit it and move on together as open moderates.

Allow me to suggest you stop over thinking this, and stop thinking the universe is run in smoke filled rooms by a small cadre of dark shady power brokers. The idea that Romney was in on it with the McCain campaign? Sorry, with due respect, that doesnt fly.
Not the McCain campaign; I said the McCain/Palin campaign. Wallace and Schmidt (and probably another one or two Veep assignees) were defacto Romney operatives at that time and later, regardless who signed their paychecks. Because of what they did and which Republican Presidential contender benefitted most from what they did. Anyway, SP has indicated in the past that she thinks she was torpedoed by them.

But it doesnt mean that McConnell, Graham, Cochran, Alexander and other RINOs are deserving of our support...
I've learned somethings about Roberts and recent Kansas politics from this and similar threads. Were I in Kansas Toto, I'd probably be able to vote for Roberts this November, on the basis of what I've learned today.
As for the incumbants you mentioned above, they get none of my money and no moral support. They will win or lose on their own.

You are exactly right. This could be our very last chance.

In her endorsement of Hatch, in particular, she made specific reference to his decades-long fight for a balanced budget amendment.
Palin is a very specific endorser. With Roberts, she mentions him standing with Cruz against Obamacare.
There is always a specific reason when Palin endorses.
I would advise always reading her entire endorsement, because she will usually lay the reasons right out with precision.
Yes to all that you said in your post. Still, I'm scratching my head over this Roberts endorsement...just a little perplexed. But I'm still with her...until and unless she tells me I ought to vote for LG in SC this November.

I’ll accept your apology when you’re ready.

Oh, I definately agree. Maybe I’m just not versed well enough in the extent of Roberts’ actual RINO-ism, as opposed to him just being a tired old career-politician who is distant from his state and his constituents. Who also demonstrated both cluelessness and selfishness by not passing the torch and retiring.
I can ‘slightly’ forgive that level of doddering entitlement, if there’s truly a top-notch voting record behind it, and no other viable alternative. What I refuse to forgive are an slimey RINO’s who profess conservatism yet go back to DC, and constantly side with the agendas of the corrupt elites, and behind-the-scenes do everything they can to kneecap the grassroots. Generally, I’ve observed Roberts being more of the former than the latter. But I’m not a Kansan, and I could be totally wrong with this observation. I’m entirely open to hear examples of where Roberts may have a more negative track-record than I’m aware of.

The problem is that everyone decries pols that spend eternity in office as the problem and decries pols who lie to retain their power as the problem and decry pols that support Bhoners various cave ins as the problem, then pretend the guy that is all those things is just A OK.
I have yet to see a logical argument from a single RINO excuser why it is that situational ethics is/are OK. Every time it becomes a choice of standing behind the words they spout every day on conservative sites or miraculously finding that one very extra super unique excuse to allow another RINO vote, they find it with no sense of shame or embarrassment for the hypocracy.

I wanna know when it turned into a DEMOCRAT place!!! When all the pro-romneytards crawled out from under a rock? I have no say in Roberts as I don't live there, but I would probably vote for him because he is mostly Conservative according to my personal political barometer. I can't say the same for Cochran or turtleneck.
