I did find this on wikipedia:
“Although the Constitution of the United States does not cite it explicitly, presumption of innocence is widely held to follow from the 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments.”

So parents can’t use corporal punishment any more on their kids?

Did you read the article? Cuts and bruises to the kids back and legs, along with defensive wounds to his arms and hands - went way beyond corporal punishment.

I am a proponent of the Biblical axiom that "he who spares the rod hates his son", but there's a difference between punishing a child and beating one into submission.

the 11 year old and this rape idea bear no relation whatsoever to fact, so move on

You’re right. The person I am replying to looked at the injuries on a four-yo, not an 11 yo. I suppose, in that circumstance, you find it normal & heallthy to say, ‘If the 4-yo raped a young girl, his beating was not nearly sufficiently severe’. It struck me as sick. AFAIK, I am allowed to say so. If you know otherwise, please give me a link.

I am of the opinion that 4 year old biological son was beaten in a criminal manner. If it had been an 11 year old “not his son” that is just as bad. Still criminal.

I have emailed the Vikings that Peterson’s contract should be terminated, that the NFL has no room for criminals who would treat their loved ones in such a fashion. This was clearly an attack on this little four year old and can you even imagine what this did to him emotionally? He must have been completely terrified and devastated that his father hated him so.

You looked at the welts and lacerations on a 4-yo boy, and said, ‘I read the article and looked at the pictures. It seems excessive - but I never read what instigated the whipping. Did the kid rape a little girl? - then it wasn’t nearly enough.’

Beating a 4-yo nearly to death [which would be the upshot of beating one much more severely than the pictured child had been beaten] is not a lawful or reasonable response to child rape, even IF that was the charge. There is a legal system in place to handle such matters. Yes, I found it sick that you immediately suggested beating a 4-yo w extreme severity for a felony that should be handled by the legal system. I still do, and the hysteria of your replies only serve to underscore the point.

We are certainly in agreement. The child was and will continue to be devastated, as you point out even more so emotionally than physically. Another poster cited a case where this same player beat his 2-yo son to death. If true, why on earth is he still free & still playing for the Vikings? I may, if time permits, try to write my own email to the Vikings, expressing similar sentiments to yours.

Just to clarify, my point is that even IF a charge of rape was involved, that should be handled by the legal system, with an attorney for the child present for the trial, etc. Simply beating the child senseless on the spot, even if one is convinced he had ‘raped a little girl’, is not consistent with American jurisprudence. That was my original point, which may have gotten obscured by subsequent posts.

You stupid idiot! I’ve told you at least three, 3, times that when I posted that, I had read the story that he was 11, and not read that it was a four year old. I also said it was a completely different situation with a 4 yr old. But your brain is unable to comprehend anything that anybody says, once you’ve decided on your conclusion - wrong as it is.

You are a complete imbecile!

I also said - hypothetically - that it was not a “charge” but a fact of the rape that would deserve such a whipping.

But you - dullard that you are, don’t bother with what I actually said. You have your simple mind made up, and keep repeating your lies over and over.

So, being so thick-headed, there is nothing I can say to make you think differently, you don’t have enough of a mind to change. You are so stupid, there is no way in he!! you will change my opinion.

You said that it is OK for boys to rape little girls, so don’t come hollering to me about what is right. You think it’s OK for little 3 year old girls to have their lives completely ruined when an 11 year old rapes them? Then you smile and think it’s so cute. You are the one that is sick.

If someone asks me to take care of their kids, and if their kids deserve a whipping - I’ll give it to them. If that’s not cool with you, don’t ask me to watch your kids.

I don’t want the responsibility for your bratty kids if I don’t have the authority to discipline them.

Yeah - keep up. The first article said 11, not 4. That was what I was responding to. And yes, and 11 year old can do things that deserve it.

As punishment, Peterson grabbed a tree branch – which he consistently referred to as a “switch” – removed the leaves and struck the child repeatedly. The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including acuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.

If this is true, the sadistic beast should be banned from sports forever. Getting a spanking is one thing, but beating up a four-year-old is quite another. If Peterson were just some guy in the 'hood we'd all be calling him a monster and calling for a jail sentence.
