ISIS has now beheaded a second American hostage. According to the SITE Intelligence Group, the terror group posted a video showing the killing of Steven Sotloff, a journalist who has been held for months but whose captivity was made public only two weeks ago, when he was shown at the end of the video depicting James Foley’s killing.
Though I have not seen the video, a still image circulating online shows a similar setup to that of the Foley killing, with Sotloff kneeling in an orange jumpsuit in a desert landscape next to a fighter in a black mask holding a knife. The New York Times reports:
In the video, Mr. Sotloff describes himself as “paying the price” for the Obama administration’s decision to strike ISIS targets in Iraq. The same masked fighter with British-accented English who appeared in the video of Mr. Foley’s beheading also appears beside Mr. Sotloff, asserting, “I’m back, Obama, and I’m back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State.”
The first question brought on by the repetition of this horror is how long it can continue.

No daily media reports, no yellow ribbons around trees, no prayer vigils in front of the White House, and no "celebrity family members" as guests at the State of the Union address. And I suspect that a big part of it is that it's hard to paint someone as a "victim" when he's put himself in harm's way in some place where the U.S. government has already warned civilians that they'd be better off not going.
I also suspect that the U.S. government doesn't want to give these captives a lot of public exposure because we've been paying ransoms to get some of them released (maybe even Foley himself the first time he was captured) -- and a huge public outcry does nothing but drive up the price.
In war spies are executed.
Journalists, captured journalists, get no reprieves from being spies. If they were captured, they were where they had no business.
Being American is not really a defense.
I don't know about anyone else, but where I come from we used to call that a bad career move.

Your guess is as good as mine. Note that I didn't state that SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN after that date, just that nothing will happen before it (Unless God really smiles upon us).

Steven Sotloff: ISIS’ Beheaded Anti-Israel Jew Converted to Islam Years Ago; “Hated” Israel

Yesterday, I told you all the inside scoop on ISIS’ latest beheadee Steven Sotloff: how he was extremely pro-HAMAS and anti-Israel all through his four years of studying and living in Israel; how he “deeply loved Islam” and “Islamic culture” and lived in Yemen for years; how he was an apologist for jihadists of every stripe, including ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, in addition to HAMAS.
In my piece, I said I wouldn’t be surprised if Sotloff had voluntarily converted to Islam, long before his captivity with ISIS.
All of this makes you wonder, did Steven Sotloff convert to Islam? Don’t bet against it. Like I said, he lost his head before ISIS took it from him.
And my instincts were correct. He converted to Islam several years ago in Egypt while “covering” a/k/a cheering on the Muslim Brotherhood revolutionaries in Tahrir Square. It’s like a Jew taking the SS oath and joining the Gestapo while pretending to be an objective journalist covering the Holocaust and World War II. His friend, Oren Kessler, an Israeli-American journalist, formerly of the Jerusalem Post, confirms it:
In Egypt, Kessler said, Sotloff once allowed locals to give him a “quickie conversion,” a 10-minute ceremony meant to return him to his purported Islamic roots.
