Democratic strategist James Carville believes two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney will go for a third try in 2016, even though the 2012 GOP nominee has said he won’t seek the nation’s top office again.

“He’s run for president twice. I once noted that running for president was like having sex: No one did it once and forgot about it,” Carville said Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” …

Against Jimmy Carter, Fritz Mondale or Al Gore? Will Bob Dole or Dan Quayle be his running mate?

I agree with Ol' Snakeface 100%.

Romney will run (again).

I honestly think there is a better-than-decent chance that we'll see a faux "grassroots campaign" to draft Romney.

Romney will pretend to be reluctant (Pshaw, you want to nominate l'il ol meeeeee?), and act coy, then he will accept and then proceed to mess things up beyond the degree that anyone would ever think possible (see: every other election he's ever been involved in, except maybe that one in Massachusetts).

Didn't vote for him the first time, and won't vote for him next time, either. Nothing Mitt can do or say will persuade me to vote for him.

He will probably lose (again). But at least it'll preserve the idea that it's still his "turn", and the GOP can continue raking in the favors and perks of guiding the nomination toward the ones with the most cash to spread around and not the ones who can win or have the best ideas.

That’s the plan with Willard on the case.

He has had four elections and he has lost three of them. He failed to win a single battle ground state against Barack Hussein Obama. He's about as popular as pink eye and diarrhea.

he would have had five elections and four losses but he knew better than to run for reelection as Governor of Massachusetts because then he would have just been another loss to carry around.

Mitt Romney is a GIANT EFFING LOSER and he should be strongly discouraged from running again by anybody who has any interest in seeing a Republican sitting in the White House again.

What better way to destroy the GOP than from within. Willard’s plan for years. The Democrats have no greater ally.

The guy managed to lose every single battle state in 2004 and guess what? The Republicans need to win every single battle ground state to win a presidential election given the state of the electoral college map.

It was never obvious to me that Romney was running for ANYTHING in 2012, least of all the presidency.

If Willard couldn’t attack and slam obamatollah in 2nd and 3rd debates, he won’t have the balls to attack ISIS and other Islamic evil.

Yeah, Obomba’s failure in the first debate was a classic rope-a-dope, and Romney stupidly fell for it.

Absolutely. And yet, here we are, the GOP aligning with Mitt before other candidates even announce.

If the GOP throws their weight behind Romney early, other candidates can't/won't get the money commitments they'll need to run a viable candidacy.

I see this happening now to discourage others from even thinking of throwing their hats in the ring, winnowing down the field before it gets crowded like it did in 2008.

Romney can't win, but he can keep others from winning or even running a decent campaign, which punishes conservative/tea party upstarts, which is seen as a win for the Republican Party.

This is so depressing.

I think the Republican Party plan is to throw their weight behind Romney, cutting off early support for other candidates.

If they can prevent others from getting support, the field is automatically smaller, and the chances of a Tea Party/conservative candidate advancing is much smaller.

Romney may not win, and the Republican Party knows it, but he'll be well-financed and if it crushes the conservative wing of the party, it'll be worth it. The GOP doesn't like what it can't control.

Yeah, he wishes and so does his buddy Bob Beckel.

To do the same thing over and over again expecting different results really is the definition of insanity.

No more pantloads for president, Okay republicans?

Romney, the reluctant Republican.

Where was the ‘perfect’ candidate hiding? We have to flush him or her into the light before 2016.

After BO we need a candidate with Eisenhower’s military background, Reagan’s conservatism, Romney’s civility, Palin’s sense of joy, Cruz’ grasp of governance and FReepers’ fidelity to the Constitution.

Step forward wherever you are!!!!!!
