In a very interesting infographic on Medium, Matter Magazine offers us a paint by numbers assessment of the ISIS threat.
Among other things, the Islamic State has a shocking amount of money — $2 BILLION dollars — four times as much as the Taliban. And their wealth is growing, with $3 million dollars a day in oil and gas revenue from captured facilities. (If you’re wondering who is buying, it’s all black market.)
And they have other sources of income besides:
The statistics go on, and they’re surprising. 80,000 fighters control 470,000 square miles and 6,000,000 people.
And of course, they have vowed to conquer Rome, the seat of global Christianity by means of the Catholic Church.
If you want a better sense of the growing threat posed by the Islamic State, and the way they’re using social media amplification to increase their message and expand their reach, the whole thing is worth a read.

The chart is misleading. Instead of "robbing banks" it should have said "looting banks".
Not to worry; they are just a $2B junior varsity.
Every time you fill up your gas tank, some of that money ends up in their hands, courtesy of our Saudi “friends.”

If you steal from ISIS you will be doing the world a huge service....sort of like a repo man on a large scale. If they have less money they can do less evil.

We haven’t seen this sort of Horror since the “Great leap Forward” and the Mau Maus—Maybe not since Adoph and his gang ran Germany. They must be stopped and stopped cold. If we need to cuddle up to Syria’s dictator—so be it. In WW II we were foced in bed with Stalin’s Soviet Union. Bomb them! Bomb then hard-—make them pay for their extreamism—and Bomb any nation that supports them! They must be cut from the history books like the Mahdi and his brief victory in the Sudan in the last years of the 19th Century. Its the Only War. Don’t worry—they are planning right now to hit us hard—hoping a few thousand bodies will cause the USA to back down (with Obama in charge—they might be right) This Al Baghdadi guy is well organized, ruthless, and smart—he is a worthy enemy and we shouldn’t under-estimate him.
If the $2B is truly in a bank, extreme pressure needs to be applied to that bank and anyone who does business with that bank so that every cent can be confiscated.
