Please explain how what you described is possible. Not saying it isn’t, but the way you wrote it seems impossible.

Go to the range one day(outside type), set up square to the target at 3 yds or so... petty close, holstered, secured and safe. Have a buddy stand with his back to yours. On your signal (Go!), your buddy takes off running away from you and stops when he hears the first shot. Turn around and see how far away he is, then look to see if you hit the target, then realize a guy facing you with a knife in his hands is much scarier than the drill you just conducted. Also realize you'll have a split second advantage on your buddy because you'll know when you're going to say, “Go” but he won't. Reaction times would be different. Counting down from 3 would even things out a bit more.
