During this years second quarter, Democrat Kay Hagan raised more than twice the money for her re-election campaign for one of North Carolinas two seats in the U.S. Senate than her Republican challenger Thom Tillis, the speaker of the N.C. House.
Hagans campaign has reported that she raised $3.6 million from April to June, and she has $8.5 million cash on hand. Tillis campaign reported that he raised $1.6 million during the same period and has $1.5 million in the bank.
The candidates were required to submit their campaign finance data to the Federal Election Commission by July 15, but the commission has yet to publicly release their numbers. The Senate race in North Carolina might be the key to whether national Republicans regain their majority in the U.S. Senate after the fall elections.
Hagans campaign criticized Tillis ties to the Koch brothers, who have poured in millions of dollars in the race to air anti-Hagan ads on the states television stations. Tillis attacked Hagan for her ties with Tom Steyer, a billionaire political activist who wants to help Democratic politicians in the fall elections.
Pundits expect Hagan and Tillis to raise millions of dollars in their campaigns. Political action committees have spent several millions of dollars running attack ads on television and radio station in the state supporting and criticizing both candidates.
Kays record-setting second-quarter funding total is a reflection of the enthusiasm and momentum behind her campaign, Hagan campaign spokesman Chris Hayden said in a statement.
Jordan Shaw, Tillis campaign manager, said that the GOP hopeful remains on track with his fundraising efforts.

Buying the election again. Where’s the money for Tillis?
But only the milquetoast candidate can win, we’re always told.
Just like Eric Cantor
Wasn’t Tillis the choice of the GOP-e?
If so, where are Karl “Money-Bags” Rove and his merry band of pirates; not to mention the dollar font of the Senate Republicans?
But what if you don't like either candidate and suspect Tillis to be just another GOPe-bot?
Not much "Win" with either Tillis or Hagan.
I challenge anybody to show me an example otherwise.
The talking points have gone out to the MSM.
But, he's still a damn sight better than Hagan.
Incumbents normally do have the financial advantage.
A great deal of the money that will probably be spent on this race will probably come from outside groups, not the actual campaign coffers of the two candidates.
What will matter, especially in NC, will be the TURNOUT.
Ping
Really?
I can’t think of any reason at all to vote GOP anywhere on anything.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.
What is the alternative to voting GOP?
A) Sit at home on election day?
B) Vote Democrat?
C) Waste votes on third party candidates which only serve to help Dems get elected?
you phrased the question wrong..
what is the difference between a GOPe eradicate and a Rat one?
There isn’t one.

There isn’t one.
(darn auto correct)
Regardless of how much she raises, she is still an Obama clone.
RE: Regardless of how much she raises, she is still an Obama clone.
And that’s the worrisome part... she might retain her seat.
At what point are people finally going to accept that voting the GOP-E as the "lesser of two evils" does exactly NOTHING for the country. Sure, sure, the GOP-Er may vote the right way on a few symbolic or procedural votes, but they will vote the wrong way on any vote that matters. They will vote the way they are told to vote by the Party insiders and aisle-crossers in DC.

The majority in the House and Senate picks the committees, majorities, which affects what bills even get considered.
A huge advantage even if the members are GOP-E. Just one reason to hold your nose and vote .
I didn't vote for Tillis in the primary but will in the general.
Unless the GOP candidate is as liberal as Lincoln Chaffee, and that's not likely, any GOP candidate is better than a dim.
Tillis is rove’s goon. Not surprised there’s no enthusiasm for him
