On Twitter, a photograph of a column of Iraqi forces defeated by the insurgents "Caliphate" (former Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) in the western Iraqi province of Anbar.

Judging by the presence of tanks M1A1 "Abrams" - it was a column of the elite Iraqi 9th Armored Division (it is the only Iraqi army has these tanks in service), which forces the Iraqi government have strongly stretched over a very large area between the provinces of Anbar, Salah al-Din and Baghdad. From Iraq in recent months has been a lot of pictures of [destroyed] columns of the Iraqi army and the federal police, but this is the first time [that they] so badly ambushed a convoy of armored vehicles of 9th Division, so I decided to post a blog.

I don’t see any penetration holes. I remember back during the last Iraq war we had one Abrams that was penetrated, probably by one of Ivan’s AP Weapons. Never heard any more about it.

It’s a translation program, and yeah, the conversion to English is not good, but the pics say it all.

Don’t see much damage on the tanks. Wonder what happened there. Maliki is said to have purged the Sunnis and put his own people in place. It’s possible that the replacements weren’t particularly adept at operating the tanks.

I see little to no battle damage. These armored vehuicles were abandoned. Note that all weapons are mounted, no effort was made it appears to destroy/disable either vehicles or weapons. The IRQ Army has been busy equipping the “caliphate”.

Nothing like giving them usable M2 HB 50s and M113A3+ APCs, a few vey lethal (if known how to be used) M1A1s....

The west (NATO/Israel etc) is going to have to use careful TacAir to eliminate these combat multipliers. How do you think the ISIS rebels will attack and control Bagdad or other major metropolitan areas? The same we did-masses of armor that support masses of dismounted Infantry. The only thing they lack is C2I and air assets with weapons/sensors.... but soon, those F16s and AH64s/UH60s we left may be in play too.

Is this the one? http://www.rense.com/general44/what.htm

I believe reactive plates have since been added to the M1's skirting to help defend against such warheads.

My anger over the fact that IDIOTIC and CLUELESS single females of America put the Anti-Christ in the White House is at a fever pitch.

We should be BOMBING THE LIVING CR*P OUT OF ISIS IN IRAQ!! Obama allowing them to spread across the region unchallenged is very telling. Obama's allegiance is to the Caliphate and America is in SERIOUS danger with him in the WH. America probably will not survive his presidency.. We are in our last days as it is now. Obama is 'browning' America with Central Americans, probably ISIS and God knows what else!!!.. Choking the white man out.. OBAMA, HOLDER, AND JEH JOHNSON HATE WHITE PEOPLE AND ARE AIDING AND ABETTING EVERYONE WHO THREATENS AMERICANS AROUND THE GLOBE.

The Abrams tank you're referring to belonged to a tank company of the 3rd. Armored/Mechanized Divisions ''Spartan Brigade, it's call sign was'';Charlie One Two'' and its tag name given to it by its Bronx-born Puerto Rican commander Carlos Diaz was ''Cajones,eh''? A kind of Spanish slang for ''Yeah, right''? On the first ''Thunder Run'' up Iraqi Highway 8 it took a one-in-a-million RPG shot in the engine compartment that busted a fuel line. Try as the crew might to keep extinguishing the flames in the middle of a vicious fire fight with no way to stop the fuel from leaking out onto the hot engine they had to abandon the tank in accordance with a set procedure the Army's armored units have for such situations. The entire crew made it safely out of the tank. Get a hold of David Zucchino's "Thunder Run'' "The Armored Strike To Capture Baghdad''. It's a pulse-pounding rock 'em sock 'em account of what was called "The biggest drive by shooting in history''.
