There is a lot of back story here. The "renegade general", Khalifa Haftar, as the story states, is widely viewed to be consolidating power and will be in charge soon. What is interesting is the the AIR FORCE, in this article implied part of the government, retaliated against the Islamist.

Military Dictatorships returning to Egypt and Libya- so much for the Arab Spring.

Gen. Haftar has been described as anti-Islamist. It was also reported that conflict is so bad that oil exports are down to 100,000 barrels, whereas 2 million is easily possible with good order. Part of the cause of higher gas prices here. Given that the Chinese were significantly involved in Libya’s oil development before the overthrow, I wonder what part they may be playing in trying to resolve this sitution to get oil back on line?
