The Clippers are appreciating asset. Billionaires accrue assets, cash flow notwithstanding. It may take a few years, but eventually the Clippers will be worth every penny paid and then some. In the meantime, the owner takes whatever tax advantages they can.
Smart move. In about 20 years, the team will be worth somewhere around $250 billion.
