Dang man. I just heard this guy's song Pretend You Don't See Her in the movie Goodfellas. Didn't know who he was, but I kind of liked the song in a sad sort of way.

That’s precisely what society is missing today, love songs.......Life was better back then because of those songs.

Maybe you knew him as Gennaro Luigi Vitaliano.
The name didn't mean anything to me either, but I remember having heard "You don't know me" and "I can't stop loving you."

Growing up in the 1960s, my parents had an old stereo in a wooden cabinet. Played albums from all the Italian singers — Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Al Martino and Jerry Vale. All these guys knew how to sing a love song. You don't find singing like that today.
Rest in peace, Mr. Vale.
To: Vaquero
Frank and Jerry Vale were friends 'til Daddy died. The Jerry Fail thing was a nickname, all in fun, because Jerry has such a beautiful voice. They were good pals.

Growing up in the 1960s ... albums from all the Italian singers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Al Martino and Jerry Vale.
After I got out of the Marines in the late 60s, I hung out in a bar frequented by the WWII generation.
The jukebox was filled with all those singers' songs plus others like the Mills Brothers, Dorseys, etc.
Every time I hear those wonderful old songs I think of the great times we had in that bar.
