BTTT....
King George III didn’t take an oath to defend our Constitution.
The elections wont be cancelled. That would throw the Congress into a complete turmoil, with no congressmen and only 66 Senators having a mandate to sit. But "what difference does it make? The POTUS is not popularly elected. It is the Electoral College which elects the POTUS - and a popular election isnt necessary to select the electors. The state legislatures can do it - and it is only a tradition which ties that selection to a popular election. Therefore the mere expedient of canceling the election on the first Tuesday in November, 2016 would not actually cancel the presidential election. The Congress does set the date for the vote of the electoral college, and that would be subject to a presidential veto - but, especially if the Republicans take the Senate, they can set that date before Obama would be willing to tip his hand, in an uncontroversial clean bill. Then there wouldnt be any excuse for vetoing it - and it would be a scandal if he did.
I’m afraid so.
