Mile for mile, there are almost as many earthquakes rattling Oklahoma as California this year. This major increase in seismic shaking led to a rare earthquake warning today (May 5) from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Oklahoma Geological Survey.
In a joint statement, the agencies said the risk of a damaging earthquake one larger than magnitude 5.0 has significantly increased in central Oklahoma.

I am an advocate of it actually heating east of the rockies due to the Farallon plate dissolving thereby exposing more bedrock to the core points.

Nope however that was due to a few limiting factors. I would suggest that you look towards Virginia’s 5mag a few years ago for that size potential.
However I would not hesitate to suggest that a 6+ is not out of the question in Oklahoma.

If they have a quake, they called it. If they don’t, just forget about it.

Canada will be completely covered in ice within 20 years.
Meaning no need to shell out hard earned cash to reserve ice time for hockey practice, eh?

I would think the last thing in the world the usgs would want to do is issue that warning.
