Slavyansk, Ukraine (CNN) -- Deadly street fighting, helicopters shot down and civilians being used as human shields.
That was the picture that emerged Friday in southern Ukraine as violence escalated amid reports that dozens of people were killed in a fire and still more were shot dead or wounded in street fighting, raising the question of whether the country can stave off a possible civil war.
The violence -- pitting pro-Russian separatists against Ukrainian forces and those who support the government in Kiev -- prompted an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, with Russia demanding an end to what it called Ukrainian aggression and Western powers accusing Moscow of funding the violence.
Russia and the West have squared off diplomatically over the fate of Ukraine, after Moscow annexed Crimea in March following the ouster of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. He was pushed from office after months of protests by people upset that he had turned away from Europe in favor of Russia.

If or not that is true....it’s significant and important to watch closely Germany in these political dynamics.
Merkly has been relatively mild in her statements, afraid very much from the beginning, of the Nazi element in Ukraine. She has not wanted this to rise nor be media fodder and thus there was an “order” the media US and EU media were not to use the word Nazi when this first began, and especially when it was clear they were rising to the occasion.
Additionally it was already established that if this became an issue to deny as long as possible.....Merkle knows well how the Nazi element operates in her own country and can spot it rising in a flash. She’s had her hands plenty full dealing with her cabinet on this probility, who saw it coming as well.
The Ukraine people certainly sae it and felt it early on...even the Maidan protesters saw their protest being hijacked, many have written about seeing the violence errupt and who was inciting it.
But at any rate...here they are fighting ‘a culture war’ among the citizens......a “political war” among the outside nations wanting control,... and surely a mass invasion of paid and well equipped mercenaries, along with various other groups willing to take up the fight ‘for either side’ who can and will pay them to do so.
It’s going to be a very long battle.....and one the USA has no business in being there, nor putting our men in harms way...period! EU wasn’t prepared for battle...and we do not have to be ‘their hammer’ to contain a war that will surely ensue with Russia unless better minds come up with a solution.
???
Go to heck..I agree with GI Joe......
All you appeasement traitors, you appeasement cowards, should to be lined up and shot and only then will us true heroes (like GI Joe and I) will come out and bravely fight it from our keyboards.
We cant stand by and let those Russian Nazis persecute the gays. Didnt the Bible warn us that this would happen?
First they went after the gays and then...
Worth a watch and interesting...short video
The people of Lugansk have revived a monument WW2 tank to use against Keiv Gov encroachment in their city
“Legendary WWII tank, which stood on a pedestal in the “Ostroy mogily” in Lugansk, renovated. And again on the move.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs8HBhVOzfg
The Keiv Gov. and officials do not want it to be known how sinister and purely evil the happenings were inside that building. There is video and photos of the thugs going in a side entrance, in mass, with all sorts of clubs and various other impliments, inside the building 'before' the fire outside was started. What they did to these people defies words.... It's being said now the fire began inside as well, as a means of hiding the atrocities that occured inside by the Madian,Nazi and others.
Well saw-ry, I simply can’t afford one of those fancy new computers that come with their own stock of ICBMs!
Update:
Ukrainian Gov. has hastily ‘changed’ the Governor of Odessa and the Odessa police department leadership since the Trade Building Fire.
Reminds me how Obama “changed” the face of this nation to something he wanted rather than let it be what it is.
Looks like a good source of info - “Human Rights in Ukraine; Information website of the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group”
There is no “nice way” in a civil war, which are always the most brutal and dangerous of all wars. There is no “book to follow.
I can only hope what's happening in Ukraine may have some hope of removing all the death and destruction known there for sooo many years. Sometimes it takes a war to accomplish ousting the mindset that loves to hate and see death.
After investigating the site there is a lot of ‘omitted’ news of atrocities against people in Ukraine..and much false/misleading information. I wouldn’t use this as a “good source” myself, but then each to his own as is said.
I have had exchanges with a couple of friends in Moscow for several years. Generally pretty cordial. But they at times shift into AgiProp mode. They did this on the Ukraine rebellion and tried hard to wrap it in the Nazi mold.
As a consequence, I think this is largely Russian Propaganda. I looked at the live videos and then how Moscows version was edited.
Putin needed the port and this was the excuse. But I must admit the EU was not very deft about how they handled this whole thing. Socialists are like that.
Black propaganda uses brazen lies. White propaganda uses facts to one's advantage.
Ukrainian Nazis are fact. Ruskies did not made this up- they exploit this fact for their own needs.
Strangely, Ruskies miss the obvious - to accuse EU and the U.S. for propping up the re-emergence of Nazism in Europe.
Burning up people in Odessa in 2014 is a reminder of who are the players in Kiev. In 1944 Ukrainian Galician Waffen SS burned hundreds alive in Polish village Huta Pieniacka. The graffiti "Galician SS" were scribled on the building set ablaze in Odessa by the Right Sector thugs.
The Ukraine situation is like many other places in the world. No Good Guys, only competing Bad Guys.
Unfortunate.
Middle East is same way.
Our founders cautioned the nation about foreign entanglements from the founding of our nation. Now look where we are.
As you may recall, the official Crimean election results, as reported widely in the Western press, showed a 97 percent vote in favor of annexation with a turnout of 83 percent. No international observers were allowed. The pro-Russia election pressure would have raised the already weak vote in favor of annexation, of course.Yesterday, however, according to a major Ukrainian news site, TSN.ua, the website of the President of Russias Council on Civil Society and Human Rights (shortened to Presidents Human Rights Council) posted a report that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to this purported report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout of Crimean voters was only 30 percent. And of these, only half voted for the referendummeaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.
Thanks for the info and link...
I think we too often look at Russians through our eyes rather than through theirs. We don’t live in their culture and they know how it operates and or doesn’t for them.
I recall a man echoing another there , who said that the distance between love and hate for them is a hair breath and can turn on a dime.
Putin, Merkle, and all those in that area of the world know the differences among them, their history and why the borders are what they are and not as well.
If you ask youself why is our border to Mexico different from our border with Canada that helps explain some of the differences Ukraine faces between their East and West....
In the end I think Ukraine will one day be Russian again. They have just seen that Europe isn’t going to do much for them, and so has Latavia, Poland and the other Baltic nations.
Obama made a ‘serious’ mistake, among the many, when he commented that Russia wasn’t a World Power. It also showed he knows nothing of the Russian people, who heard that, nor how they would respond as a nation.
