A Defiant Rancher Savors the Audience That Rallied to His Side
NYT ^ | 4/23/14 | Adam Nagourney

BUNKERVILLE, Nev. — Cliven Bundy stood by the Virgin River up the road from the armed checkpoint at the driveway of his ranch, signing autographs and posing for pictures. For 55 minutes, Mr. Bundy held forth to a clutch of supporters about his views on the troubled state of America — the overreaching federal government, the harassment of Western ranchers, the societal upheaval caused by abortion, even musing about whether slavery was so bad.

** snip **

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

Well it didn’t help that the man said something flat out stupid.

I agree with his likening the plantations to the welfare state, we say that all the time around here because it’s right.

But he went WAY too far when he said, “[black people are enslaved to the state] because they never learned to pick cotton”.

The man is political nuclear waste now. Of course his cause was/is just but he just played right into the leftists grubby hands with that, yes I’ll say it, RACIST comment.

I hope it isn’t true. Maybe he didn’t say black people are in jail and abort their babies “because they never learned how to pick cotton”. But if he did, he just destroyed his own cause and that of any other citizen fighting against the jack boot of the state.

Is the recent bloody Cattle Massacre at Nevada Cattle Rancher Bundy’s Pioneer Corral damaging the Democrat Party in eyes and words of the Democrat Left Stream Media?

To put this latest Medieval “Kill for Sport” event in historical context, all one has to do is remember that the Democrat Party was the Founding Party of the KKK.

Is the modern day equivalent of the KKK the Bureau of Feudal Land Management, (BFLM) ?

If so, then Feudal Lord Reid would then be “The Grand Dragon of the BFLM.”

Feudal Lord Reid’s Rustlers are hired guns, who are furious but not fast, which also applies to their bitter, vengeful, senile, multimillionaire Leader: Feudal Lord Reid.

With the past Democrat-based KKK, and now the present Democrat-controlled BFLM, ethics be damned, as abject fear is the main goal of both of these ethically Medieval Outlaw Gangs, past and present.

“Ethics” will be justified later by Liberals who will write the “revised” PC History of these times, past and present; of powerful men with outlaw hatred toward free people in America, Black or White, poor or rich.

The Jackboot Heel of Democat Tyranny is now upon us, AGAIN !

MOVE ON!
FORWARD!

Reid’s Rustlers attacked cattle in an isolated Nevada Corral.

Both Occupy Wall Street and Reid’s Rustlers destroyed private property and private jobs.

Both Occupy Wall Street and Reid’s Rustlers were financially supported, (indirectly and directly, respectively), by the Democrat Obama Administration.

Both Occupy Wall Street and Reid’s Rustlers were publicly encouraged by the Democrat Obama Administration, and the Democrat Left Stream Media.

MOVE ON!
FORWARD!

The NY Slimes is a propaganda arm of the liberal government. I don't trust anything they say, especially if it's not recorded. Bundy is definitely a target the left wants to take down.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,”...

It sounds like he's responding to a question or some such...baited IMO.

Those who are "wise" to the shenanigans of the left probably wouldn't have fallen for it, but Mr. Bundy probably doesn't bother himself with the day to day activities, tactics and motives of the leftists as he works a real job to provide for his family.

Bundy needs a better GPS that wont lead him around the Vegas housing projects.

Until I see a sourced and verifiable version of his “comments”, I’m not buying one word of it...

For FReepers to take “NYT overheard” as truth vs. verify anything and everything the lying sacks of excrement at the NYT print as gospel truth demonstrates a fear of being even remotely connected to a man who is being pilloried by the left because he dared stand up to the USG and by extension, Harry Reid.

This whole thing stinks.

Does anyone know if there is any single media outlet that seems to have good and direct contact with Bundy and could ask him to deny (or cofirm) the accuracy of the statement?

There is a link to a video of him making the statement here:

I wasn’t able to make out the question or statement that immediately preceded his comments...

So because he made less than articulate, but truthful statements we should abandon him to the US Gestapo?

Really?

I won’t brand him as a racist because he comments on his observations...”picking cotton” is a euphimism, a poor one, but one nonetheless regarding WORK.

This is a par for the course tactic by leftist scum...

THANK YOU !!!

Just because something is true doesn’t mean in needs to be said, especially if the saying of it has no chance of helping your main cause.

Racist or not, true or not, it was a STUPID thing to say. The man should have the sense to keep his mouth shut about stuff not related to his case...and I mean DIRECTLY related.

He has caused himself and his case harm, predictable harm, but he was too stupid to recognize that saying what he said has ZERO upside, none. There was no possible benefit to be gained by making the statement - and LOTS of damage.

“It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear a fool....”

Yes, you should have kept your mouth shut.

Bundy has fought at least a 20 year war with the Federal Government, and is not only still standing, he appears to be winning.

You, on the other hand............

You’re talking about something about which you know nothing. I have been a staunch defender of Bundy’s fight, and I have some familial knowledge of the problem, my brother being a rancher in Nevada with grazing rights that BLM claims to administer.

If you can explain how Bundy’s stupid comments furthered his case (and it has to be valid and of sound logic) I will withdraw my characterization of stupidity.

Unlike you, apparently, I am not beholden to everything Cliven Bundy has said, or might say in the future. I support his fight - but his statements have weakened his support and diminished his case...please explain to me how that was anything but a stupid move, strategically. After all, what is most important to Bundy? That his grazing claim be upheld, that BLM be driven from Nevada, or that his views of the relative benefits of slavery vs government handout be heard?

Regardless of the righteousness of his claim, it was a stupid, STUPID thing to say.

Point to anything he said about what kind of slavery people prefer.

You can’t.

You are reacting to what you hoped he said, not what he, in fact, did say.

His statements were those of a logical person analyzing the current situation of the Negro people.

He asked if they were better off. Why do you ask such a stupid question? It has no bearing on what I said. My point, which you have not refuted in the slightest, is this did nothing for his cause, and it was stupid of him to say it. You are stupid for defending his foolishness.

You were responding to a specific question in post #2 “So he’s wondering which form of slavery some people prefer?”, and you obviously missed (as did so many) what Bundy actually said.

Because you are clearly wrong, what you are trying to do is change the subject.

Are you daft? I never responded to post #2, never said a THING about the question you cite. Never even knew the question was asked! Show me ANYTHING I’ve posted regarding that question.

You obviously never read a thing I wrote, my whole point is that Bundy’s property rights claim is just, but this statement is stupid because it can only hurt his cause, and there is no upside.

I watched the video of what he said (both times) before I said anything about it. You should get YOUR facts straight before you star jumping into people’s face.

Now quit being stupid. I will accept your apology.

I asked you to point out where I posted anything about what you claim I was saying. You can’t do it can you, hmmmmmmmmmm? You make up crap, then you argue the made up crap. It makes you look like an idiot....and YOU dare to tell anybody that the should keep their mouth shut??? LOLOLOL.

I will wager I know a heck of a lot more about the grazing issue than you do - and it is clear I can follow a logical argument better than you, because you went off the track at your first post. What a lump of sod! LOLOL
