School officials in northern Colorado are asking parents to take care with their newly legal recreational marijuana, after fourth graders were caught dealing the drug on an elementary school campus.

John Gates, director of safety for Weld County School District 6, said Wednesday that the students involved, three 10-year-old boys and a 10-year-old girl at Greeley’s Monfort Elementary School, faced tough discipline but not suspension or expulsion. He would not elaborate on their punishment. […]

The marijuana appears to have been legally purchased by adults—grandparents in two families—and no charges were expected to be filed, Gates said. He said the parents of the students were concerned and working with the school on discipline. …

if they were selling wine or whiskey, legally purchased by adults, the adults and the kids would be named and up on charges....

I don't get people who think this weed crap is going to do anything but make our country weaker, dumber, less moral, less responsible....

when we have kids dying because they thought they would take a few weed joints from their grandparents I'll be loudly blaming the libtards who wanted this...

They would have been suspended for drawing pictures of guns.

no charges were expected to be filed

Of course not. Kids buying the pot are also going to drop a lot of cash into the school snack machines.

Week long suspension for a tot chewing a poptart into a gun shape or pointing his finger and going “bang.” But 10 year olds dealing dope? Nah, nothing to see here. Can’t be judgmental about these things. Move along.

On the other hand, if the kid had brought an aspirin to school, or something with peanuts in it, he would be kicked out.

I got one day of In-School Suspension (ISS) in sixth grade for selling candy.

Used to buy those Jolly Rancher suckers from the local convenience store for fifteen cents, and sell them at school to eager students for fifty cents each. They bought 'em up too, guess spending their lunch money on that was preferable to purchasing the school's cafeteria food.

If he’d been selling pot brownies in the shape of a gun, THEN there would’ve been hell to pay.
